Problematic information circulating on Social Media? What about information DIRECT from the Government? AZ is for everyone!!! Oops people are dying. AZ is safe for over 50's!!!...ooops...AZ is for over 60's!!!!....ummmm......AZ is for EVERYONE AGAIN!!!!!

You dont need to go to social media for problematic information. Different protocols for AZ between Vic & NSW.

You do not have to wear a mask when doing "strenuous" exercise. Yet another mixed message and cop out in the rules

I'm not sure that's correct. On June 26 new rules were brought in and there's no listed exemption for mask wearing for any exercise on the NSW health site. If you are under 12 the rules for that age limit apply.

Happy to be corrected but don't believe any exercise is exempt.

Well, NSW numbers are up again today and it's the same old spiel from Gladys...The lockdown hasn't worked, in so far as she could have, and should have gone harder with it.

I'll be surprised if she relaxes any restrictions next month.

You think we're looking at a long lockdown?

My sister in law has a wedding booked for next month.
Wonder how that'll go...

Hunter/Newcastle entered a 7 snap lockdown.
I have no doubts it will be extended.

I just can't see us getting out of this Demps. Maybe it's just my frustration at the whole thing with the way it's playing out, but it's clear people who have the virus either aren't aware, or don't care because they are still out in the community and it's continuing to spread, which means resources will be spread thinner, reducing their effectiveness.

100%

Rough times ahead.
Craving some normality.

But yeah, people need to follow the rules.

It’ll be a long off season for us footy heads

That's when I do all my bushwalking (when the cricket's not on.)

Just got back from the Falls not long ago. First time down the bottom, an absolutely beautiful spot.

What brand shoes/boots do you wear and/or recommend when bush walking @Cultured_Bogan?
I need a pair of soft easy walkin but supportive and protective shoes/boots, but cant afford to pay big $$$.

Sorry mate I missed this.

I wear comfortable sneakers because I have dancers feet. I've done all the walks in the mountains that I have in just sneakers.

I have only worn ASICS for the last 12 years. They can cop a flogging and are well made.

@Cultured_Bogan :relaxed said:
You're very lucky that you can do fair dinkum bush walks in sneakers.

Asics are def the go.
Comfy.
And they make some proper hiking type shoes.

Can range anywhere from $99+.
Saw some good deals on catch of the day.

Many thanks @Demps

I’'ll add to this I’ve been watching the NSW press conferences regularly. Dr Chant called out people over 70 not being vaccinated. She clearly stated that this was a massive concern. They all stated they had the AZ vaccine. They were screaming out to get vaccinated.

This is a concern and real, just like it is for the next cohort of 60-69yo. Other than people with anything above mild medical conditions, they are the most at risk of dying, yet still don't have a choice.

I suspect a fair amount of them would take the opportunity of having the alternative if made available and struggle to understand why they continue not to make it so.

I expect that there will be forms of discrimination for those that choose not to vaccinate as things open up and I am unsure to what extent I could agree with that stance, but there should be no discrimination as to having the choice of vaccine on the way to that point and especially so when options are approved.

I had my first AZ jab on Friday. Side effects chills and mild fever on Saturday. Everything back to normal on Sunday. Next jab on 17 September. Take care and stay safe everyone.

They don't need a choice. It's stupid.

It's actually worse than just stupid. It's criminal. That poor girl died who was 34. The AZ vaccine has been used heaps with very little problems. Younger people especially females appear to be more prone to the blood clotting issues.

Heaps of older people have taken the AZ vaccine and they are now at least significantly safer if they contract COVID.

This shouldn't be politicized.

Genuinely interested in you expanding on this take. From my point of view the solution is max vaccination and the most significant impediment to this is aus govt putting all their eggs in AZ basket (which I agreed with at the time).

I understand your take, and maybe it is the way out, but i have reached a level of frustration that i have gone from thinking it was handled pretty well in the early stages (prior to this lockdown) to contempt of the way it is being handled now.
The frustration stems from what i believe to be a reluctance for a proper "circuit breaker " lockdown. Instead we are what.... 6 or 7 weeks into a lockdown with it still expanding? Everybody i know thought the first 2 weeks was the "lockdown you have when you're not having a lockdown".
The top health official in this country has stated NSW needs a circuit breaker lockdown, and yet there is reluctance to "absolute" lockdown, instead we have this rolling event where we slowly include more suburbs.

I work in an industry where there is a term called "response creep". In other words, instead of flooding the situation in the first instance, we are continually chasing our tail trying to catch up. It's a no no.
The ball in this state has been absolutely dropped, and it feels like pride is in the way of doing what is really right (IMO).

To be honest, i kind of feel like there has been a minor acknowledgement of this without saying anything, but the actions that followed. Newcastle.......no 3 days to get your shit in order, just a couple of hours before the snap lockdown.

Of course vaccination is the end game to get out of this, but it could have been helped along so much quicker with firm decisions and a proper "hard" lockdown to start with. (just my opinion of course....and a bloody frustrated one)
