Coronavirus Outbreak

Kids could become a carer of Covid. They may not get sick they they will still be able to carry it and pass it on. The reason to vaccinate is to lower the cases and percentage of people likely to pass it it. In some countries it's the children that have harboured the virus now that the majority of adults are vaccinated.

This is a complete lie. Fake news. It’s actually not possible to do this.

Man, I didn’t get the full story. Doctor said they will start vaccinating without parents consent if we send them. So wtf I have no idea wats going to happen.

I'd be finding another doctor..

I also don't hate anything yiure sounding a bit paranoid

Absolute nonsense.

Whether it’s going to happen or not is unknown. But it came from a doctor. We will find out soon

Mate it is known they can not block children from going to school under the International Rights of the child. They also can not force a child to get vaccinated without parent permission under Australian law.

What you are saying is utter nonsense and if a doctor said it they are being irresponsible and most likely breaking their ethics code.

Not paranoid at all mate. Cool as a cucumber. I’ll just home school my kids if that happens. My youngest is ASD, so I’m used to being around my kids 24/7. I’ve adjusted mentally to that fact.

If so, then guess what? It is being discussed.

People spreading misinformation or half truths on the internet is the reason so many people are fearful and confused. Best to just let experts do their job and be thankful we live in a country with capable leaders working in our best interest.

I’m a lot of things mate, but I’m not a liar. That’s what was
Said. The end

Mate for starters it’s hearsay - you said one thing, corrected it, then claimed you weren’t sure and we should all wait and see. You may not see it but this type of confusing narrative scares some people. Stick to facts.

What are young on about? That’s what I was told. Not trying to scare anyone.

I know it’s not intentional, but it happens. I heard this, I heard that… it gets circulated as facts which is dangerous and scary to some people and creates all the rubbish you hear.

Man it’s circulated from the doctor to my wife
To me. That doctor could be wrong about it being mandated and
forced upon young kids without parents consent. I posted it for your own knowledge and discretion

I would be searching for a new doctor

Why should parents 'feel' anything about their kids getting vaccinated?

For example, @Earl who is vaccinated doesn’t believe kids 5 to 11 need a shot. He sees no benefit based on the facts and science. Sorry@earl am i correct?

For mine, if thousands of people in lab coats with phds have developed it, tested it and say it's safe, that should be more than good enough for anyone.

It's not that simple but it's pretty close. There have been more than one Phd that has spread misinformation in this pandemic. One of the famous ones had Phd's who spoke absolute dribble.

My wife if from the Phillipines and they had a bad
https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2019/05/03/719037789/botched-vaccine-launch-has-deadly-repercussions

>But in the end, estimates are that more than 100,000 Philippine children received a vaccine that health officials say increased their risk of a severe and sometimes deadly condition

It's good to question appropriately. The problem is the COVID vaccines have worked exceptionally well and we have massive data-sets that back up accepted science.

I acknowledge that that is your opinion, but surely there is more to it than that? Surely you engage in some form of risk/benefit analysis?

I am fully vaxxed, that is because I probably have around 50% chance of catching it over my lifetime and once caught, probably around 10% of being hospitalised, 2% chance of dying, therefore around 1% chance of this thing killing me. THat is not nothing. When I got my Pfizer shots I was told by the Dr that I had a 1:1000 risk of Myocarditis from the shot. I weigh up the risk and benefits and decide to have the vax and Im happy with that decision.

For young kids, it is a vastly different analysis. The risk of them dying of COVID is almost zero. Adverse reactions to the vaccine are more likely the younger you are. IMO it doesnt make sense to vaccinate young kids.

Not trying to have a dig at you (or at anyone else who disagrees with me) but what makes you think you know more about the risk/reward than the collective opinion of thousands of people who have spent decades in the industry?

Im also not having a dig at you, nor am I really disagreeing with you, but no number of people in white coats can make the risk/reward analysis for you, you have to do that yourself.

It is the role of the thousands of people in white coats to test the safety and efficacy of the vaccine and provide that information (it could be done a LOT better) so that individuals can determine what the risk of taking the vaccine is. Then individuals can make their own risk/reward analysis, its not up to some bloke in a white coat.

Im not making an antivax case. I took that risk/benefit analysis and I am fully vaxxed. Im merely saying for young kids, the benefit side of that analysis is significantly reduced and the risk side is increased. It is not as cut and dried decision with kids as it is with adults.

I guess my point is that:

I personally have not studied immunology, virology, public health or other related fields.

While I work in data analysis and probability, I don't have the level of skill, time or data that other people do to understand it from this angle either.

I accept that as humans, we have studied vaccines for hundreds of years and know a lot about them.

i also accept that I'm one person who is open to cognitive bias, emotion and error.

So based on that, I know that I am almost certainly flying blind when it comes to determining if my child should or should not receive a vaccine.

So I'm more than happy to hedge my bets and go with the collective wisdom of experts without giving it a lot of thought because I know that the odds are well and truly stacked very heavily in my favour.

You are probably right for the kids in the affected kids class. I'm assuming it was a kid and not a teacher as well.
