I can understand ensuring you have enough stuff at home to survive in case you need to stay in for a week, but why are people filling up their trolleys with toilet paper? Wouldn't a 24 roll pack be enough?

Also thought it was interesting that toilet paper and panadol were sold out, but the hand soap area was pretty much untouched.

Also, they are doing the stockpiling wrong anyway. Do an online order and have Woollies deliver it to your door. That way you can order 400 rolls of paper from the depot and you won't even have to leave your house.

I like people individually. As a group, I hate people. And one of the primary places people gather as groups is the internet. So much stupidity. A quick example is when somebody is accused of a crime and their face gets posted on social media, then all the SJW’s comment, explaining all the terrible things they would like to do to them, not realising they are giving that person a defence that he wasn’t given a fair trial due to trial by media. Same thing has happened here, one idiot gets the idea that toilet paper is the answer, all of a sudden, the group culture takes over. Its a real life South Park episode.

Willow,seeing you are pretty cluey about security etc...do you think that since the US are having a battle re trade agreements ,the Hong Kong riots etc,the disputes re the China sea all involving China in recent times...that all of a sudden this terrible virus has hit and it started from China...Im not a conspiracy theorist,but it certainly has wreaked havoc on Chinas economy and many others as well...I often wonder has it been created to slow China down as it has been involved in everything right across the globe recently.??

I think many people underestimated the reach and damage of this virus. I can't stand politics but the damage this is doing to the global economy...as for its original origins, I don't like speculating so I don't have a definitive answer there.

You don't. I think the medico gurus have already decided that the best we can do is slow it down. After that, hope to get a vaccine out there asap.

Is it a coincidence that the shelves in Woolies Balmain are empty for toilet paper, tissues, baked beans and fish fingers? Me thinks not, and the diet of the hoarders says a lot about the type of person that's being involved in this crazy madness. Which does a lot more harm than good. As long as most people keep level heads and don't create a chain of panic verything will be fine.

Sorbent and Kleenex factories running 24 hours a day at the moment to keep up with demand. Although they'll find a decrease in sales in a month or two as these households with 500 rolls of toilet paper won't be buying any more for some time!

I was reading something earlier about the Olympics and thoughts on possible cancellation of mass sporting events. I'm sure it wont happen, but interesting if 2 NRL team played in front of empty stadiums and us watching from home.
