Nursing home has already lied as they said all staff were briefed, my MIL was at work on Monday, story had ran in the local papers. My wife and her sister knew before the MIL did.

Awful story. It is virtually a death sentence for an elderly resident.

Probably best discussed in politics thread, but what would the issue be in holding the WHO to account for its poor management of this issue?

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the Donald, but the WHO has been a joke, just parroting the Chinese government line the whole time. Ignoring Taiwan's excellent management of the crisis, advising governments NOT to block flights from China, repeating China's early assertion there was no human to human transmission, and now ridiculously saying it's fine for China to re-open their wet markets.

The WHO throughout this whole saga has acted like the marketing department of the CCP.

I suspected that was the case. Initial reports said they had symptoms only later did they change it to asymptomatic. Someone is trying to cover their arse.

You are quite correct Mike,however,in my opinion both China and the WHO should be held responsible for this pandemic and utter waste of lives and ruined ecomomies...

Unless you have worked in these situations you don't realize how hard it is if they can't replace your shift on the other staff

Any essential staff should have tests readily available if they are faced with this situations

Its a terrible situation for all concerned within the nursing home....
we are in a war against a deadly enemy,many would say they are collateral damage...
I would say it is a tragedy that more stringent control wasnt asserted ...but then again hindsight is a great thing in these circumstances...

Its a terrible situation for all concerned within the nursing home....
we are in a war against a deadly enemy,many would say they are collateral damage...

And it's a lose /lose situation ...the harder you end up working the more you get run down and more prone to illness ....and it is hard enough getting nursing staff to work at nursing homes

She was tested yesterday I believe. Hoping she's OK. She's got a few ailments of her own which put her at risk.

It is not good .....when the F-I-L was still alive we'd go and see him

It is something I couldn't do .....getting attached to certain patients and then seeing them pass away ...it would do my head in very quickly

That's the one, it is right behind the uni. Has 2 entrances, one in Caddens which is more of the Retirement Village and then one in Kingswood that is the nursing home part. The place is quite big and if this gets on a run in there could be quite devastating!

No problem with Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon or anyone else calling out the WHO, nor China on some of their approach, or even calling it the Wuhan virus if you feel the need.

Cutting funding at this point though, in the middle of a pandemic that is starting to encroach on developing nations, is disgraceful and even more so when it is politically motivated. All who failed and at all levels, will be held to account in some form as time passes and some quicker than others, but it is not the time to further cripple such organisations.
