In Queensland, the border closure is a joke. How they have defined boundaries, working boundaries, temporary boundaries, etc etc is just a joke. They are misaligned with the rest of Australia, but whats new. There isnt a brain cell between them. Listen to these names for stupidity and corruption.... Palaszczuk, Steven Miles, Kate Jones, Jackie Trad, Yvette D'ath, Mark Bailey, Mark Ryan.

A complete and utter bunch of Deadsh***

And to show I'm fair, the other side ain't much better, if at all. I moved from NSW 10 or 12 years ago and cannot believe the people who run what could be the greatest place to live. Sure, I can move back but unfortunately work does not allow that

The border policy, flip flop, 28 days free for NSW but we will wait a while blah blah blah. Its 100% politics and no one will convince me otherwise. I shake my head at what will happen with the election coming up.

I think she has done a wonderful job as have the other premiers who put lives ahead of dollars. Don't get sucked in by the Liberal bias in the press - they are applying the pressure to make her look bad because their is an election coming up.

One day soon the people of Qld Will wake up to the fact that the sooner they deal and live with COVID-19 as NSW is doing the better . Apparently if there is a vaccine the general public will have to wait another 12months for distribution and that is IF .
Qld will be a bankrupted state with major public disorder problems if they do not face the facts ... same as WA just ridiculous!

In general I think the states have managed it well, irrespective of party allegiance. Victoria is the obvious aberration but they are a case in what happens if it is let to get out of control quickly. I think they have done well to get it under control and they are back to single digit numbers now. They implement a contact tracing system like NSW and they will stay well on top of it.

I also think the Federal government also gets way too much credit for how the crisis has been handled. Apart from doling out money to the newly jobless which was a necessity, and letting people access their super early which is really just kicking the can down the road, they haven't really had much to do with actual virus control and management. That has all been left to the states.

2020 bound to happen the covid thread becomes the politics thread and the politics thread is full of covid..

Also on border closures, I did share the opinion originally that it was a self interested move by respective leaders, but anything that helps stop spread of the virus from hot zones into other areas of the country is a good protection strategy. Did we really want someone from Victoria travelling to WA, infecting a few people there who could have gone on to fly to QLD, NSW, VIC and NT and spread it further. If it was wasn't such a communicable disease such measures could have been tempered.

COVID is very much a political issue as much as a public health issue.

Its not a political issue and it shouldnt be. Its a virus and politics doesnt affect or cure it but people make it political depending on if it suits their "team".

Indeed and the mismanagement of those situations along with a tight-arse Tuesday approach to security exacerbated the situation. 100 per cent someone who takes a cautious approach than a cavalier one.

I don't mean in that it is a political football (although it has been made out to be,) it affects politics in that things like the budget and economy etc will all be affected because of the virus.

As I said above also, I believe the state leaders both ALP and LNP have handled their respective states well.

Exactly

So can we not talk about the budget because COVID, which it will clearly affect?

The economy?

Public health spending?

Welfare?

COVID affects all these. Those are political issues. I agree with Tiger5150 that I am not too interested in saying the Coalition/ALP has handled it better and saying one has all the answers over the other, but to suggest that COVID has no impact on policy and as a result does not need be discussed is ridiculous.

I get people are angry about some of these calls and if anything Annastacia risks losing the election by not opening the borders ....she would win this election in an absolute landslide if she had of

But if you let one in where do you stop Geo ...thats the problem ...Covid doesn't have a heart ...doesn't have remorse ...doesn't care if you are a good person

Can you imagine the time and resources if you handled every case seperately ..and then still said no

Sure there is a perfectly good Politics thread for that..

I remember the Kevin 707 days oh and the Gillard days... Morrison is doing a good job considering how some of the states have handled things namely Qld. I hope Anna gets rolled at the election the state was mismanaged even before covid..
Albo is like Shorten the entire Labor camp need to break away from the insane Green policies and get back to trying to govern like it is only inner Sydney and inner city Victoria.
I am sure eachway albo and the team no just how to "fix" everything... please.
Considering Morrison had to take over from Turnbull he was absolutely pathetic he is doing a good job, all turnbull was interested in was putting on the leather jacket and appearing in Q&A what a disgrace that show is using tax payer dollars.
The budget is the best we could hope for at the moment given covid, it could have been team red in charge and we would have nothing left at all

The decisions being made around Covid19 are more politically based than medical. Like it or not it’s a political issue.
