From memory, someone wrote on here that Gladys had a plan and believed it to be the way to go. Apparently they were going to deal with individual cases and keep a lid on things that way rather than tougher initial Covid health and border policies as WA and QLD adopted. Just touching base to see how that plan is going.

Gladys is failing NSW again(ruby princess the first one) but the worst aspect is the lack of leadership from our PM Scamo.Maybe he is doing something by praying really really hard at his church to stop the spread, this is the second xmas in a row when his lack of any involvement in a crisis as it is developing

Well he's not off to Hawaii this time I don't think.

Is the sheffield sheild still on? Maybe those in strict isolation should be sent to those matches to ensure they dont come into contact with anyone.

That would not be a very good outcome, because if the COVID-19 did not kill them, they would surely die of boredom.

God I hate cricket season, bring on the footy!

Overseas quarantine is the weak link. Surely Scomo can think of better locations than in major cities where leaks have significant impacts. Also, Gladys should reduce to 500 per week to provide respite to both NSW Health and NSW residents.

I think airline crews that do not have any enforced quarantine and celebrities that are able to buy their way around quarantine are the weaker links.

It is funny how they have not been able to trace the source of the Northern beaches cluster. They are able to use geometric testing to identify the particular strain of the virus, so where else has that been found, who has been there and what link do they have to the northern beaches? Unless you are talking about a number of people that have been walking around sick but never got tested and did not infect anyone else anywhere they went before the Northern Beaches.

The original source of the cluster appears to be a couple of clubs, where there are staff and everyone else has to sign in. Should not be hard to start tracing back from there unless there is a rock someone doesn't want to pick up.

I’d say the reason they can’t trace them back to the source is that source is no longer in Australia. Most likely flight crew that have returned home. Probably signed into venues as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck knowing full well they weren’t meant to be there.

It could well be an airline crew member, but there are a bunch of exemptions for being let out of hotel quarantine that could have caused it.

While I reckon Australia has handled it well, but as long as cases are coming from overseas there's always a chance it can get out. Sydney's big population makes it the most likely victim.

Either way, the current wave is a direct result of poor public health policies, by easing restrictions and allowing a bunch of people to crowd onto a dance floor and hoping that contact tracing will solve the problem..

Capped at 350 per day so 350 * 7 = 2,450 per week max. Couldn't find the actual number that arrived in a week.

No, but there should be a better alternative to hotel quarantine in a populous such as Sydney. Mistakes will be made. I’d like to see one of the disused barracks, if there is any, used for quarantine. Alternatively a temporary camp out of the city where more control is possible.

NSW is doing a fine job and the targeted lockdowns and tracing is effective. The rates haven’t gone up exponentially, which is what you would expect if it was totally out of control. 8 less locally transmitted than yesterday and testing numbers are good.

The next few days are critical to the control of the spread.

Yes, you'd think a less populated area would be better.

There was comment in the SMH that NSW had between 5000 to 6000 per week at any one time in hotel quarantine.

Yeah it looks like NSW is taking more than the cap they had planned.
