It's simple, if you don't wanna get vaccinated don't expect the same privileges as the Vaxxed when we open back up again.

How far are you meaning to go with this? Denying jobs for non vax people? Getting a bit like the American south or Germany in the 30's. It's very dangerous as history shows when you say some people are more worthy than others.
I say this as someone who has had his first jab...waiting for the next. But as a lover of history nothing good has ever come from discrimination of any form.

So you're saying businesses can't make it mandatory for their employees to get vaccinated?

They may be able to work around this...

"It's not up to us but it's the customers safety we must respect so all employees need to be vaccinated or they cannot work on site...."

Balls in the employees court then without actually saying it's mandatory.

I'm a business owner in the construction industry, and know all my guys are getting it . That's all been their choice (I'm stating this as to be honest). I don't think i should be able to make someone get it if its against thier beliefs.

Do we think that workers comp insurance companies as we speak are not rewording there policies ! The whole centric will be around litigation in the work place . A customer walks into a premises and catches COVID from an unvaccinated individual well it’s 1300lawerup !

As the bloke in charge of Qantas said the other day "our employees need to be vaccinated by ...then if you decide you wont be vaccinated you have decided you dont really want to work in the aviation industry". simple.

All in it together aye.

Get vaccinated or get extra behind.

I’m all for everyone being vaccinated, and if they can they should. I am dead set against vaccine apartheid.

That's a bit of a false equivalence Mike. There was no rational justification for segregation under apartheid, it was just racism. There are actual health reasons for drawing a distinction between people who are vaccinated and those who are not.

So can't see the issues some of you may have with my views.

I'm not going to address your views specifically, let's just look at the actual figures comparing COVID risk vs Vaccine risk.

COVID:
56,212 cases - 1002 deaths
You have a 1 in 56 chance of dying if you get COVID (for the record, you have a 1 in 400 chance of getting COVID)

Vaccination
18,900,000 doses given - 7 deaths
You have a 1 in 2,700,000 chance of dying if you get the vaccine

I'm not a betting man but those odds speak volumes.

Unfortunately, vaxed or not doesn't seem I'm going to feel fully protected when things open hopefully.
And that to me is a failure, to think in this day and age with all the technology available we are walking around with masks like it's 1920.

It's not a failure. If you expect every medical procedure to be 100% effective you're living in a fantasy land. Did you know 1 in 200,000 people will die from anaesthesia this year. 20 will die from Panadol.

Ask yourself this, if you got cancer, would you take the chemo if it wasn't 100% guaranteed? Would you take a Panadol for a headache?

You're trying to convince yourself there's a reason not to get a vaccine. You're crying out for things to open up but are standing in the way of the door. Be part of the solution not part of the problem.

Well you're definitely living up to your name with this post.

Ahhh, a new warrior has entered the battle dome.

Fight well @Magpie_Magic.

I just highlighted a few truths that have been backed up which may have enlightened some because I fear that life has changed for us all perhaps permanently.
I just read CMO in NSW saying vacines, social distancing and by extension QR codes and general oppression lasting many years even with vacines.

I'm spooked.

I hope they will let us protest after 80% vaccinated otherwise the real battle has been lost !

Just a different excuse. I may be in the minority but I will never support vaccine apartheid.

That's fine, but maybe just call it vaccine discrimination rather than appropriating apartheid.

Surely there's a better term than apartheid - which it isn't.

It maybe unpalatable to some but it is most definitely vaccine apartheid what is currently being proposed.

Might be the new Earl.

Can you please point to the data that has backed up your statement that there are fully vaxxed people in ICU.

These are the stats that I was pointing to. 5 deaths fully vaxed and many serious cases are not the numbers I expected from fully vaccinated individuals, we were told vaccination virtually eliminates getting very sick and considering Australia's relatively low case numbers this wouldn't conform to most people view of a high degree of protection sadly imo. AZ has also been responsible for 7 deaths and 10s of people seriously ill maybe permanently so just in Australia this year.

So can't see the issues some of you may have with my views. Unfortunately, vaxed or not doesn't seem I'm going to feel fully protected when things open hopefully.

And that to me is a failure, to think in this day and age with all the technology available we are walking around with masks like it's 1920.

Currently 17,999 active cases in NSW. 27 fully vaccinated people are in hospital. that is 0.15% chance of ending up hospitalised if you contract COVID and are fully vaccinated.

EDIT: I originally quoted the total state numbers, not current actives.

Effectively from next week if you're in an area of concern you can't leave the area for work unless you're vaccinated.

My work has gone a step further and told anyone not vaccinated to stand down without pay.

The winds of change are blowing.

Fresh meat for the grinder.

Haha

Good luck with grinding.

Seems with the winds of change coming there will be plenty of time for that over the next few years

I'm not really into pointless word games, but vaccination is a choice. Race isn't.

Maybe getting the vaccine or not getting the vaccine, for some, isn’t a choice either.

PS: Genetically there is no such thing as race. It’s purely a construct to suppress people.
