If the Aussies want to take an aggressive stance thats their prerogative, but why do they only ever show it when they are on top? They've always been like it ever since the Waugh era, never a cockier team has the world ever seen when they are on top. People give it to India when all India were doing was finally giving the arrogant pricks a little of their own medicine back.

And btw that Courier mail campaign was nothing short of pathetic. **They're lucky they haven't been slapped with a lawsuit**

For refusing to use a blokes name?? Their stance was childish in the extreme and bloody embarrassing for our country but wasn't worthy of a lawsuit.

I'm pretty sure calling him a cheat would be grounds for slander

he did cheat… by choosing to stand his ground when he knew he nicked it is cheating!

Bingo Watto.

I have no qualms with the sledging. The English give as good as they get and Anderson is one of the ring leaders and then to watch him cry to the umpire was hilarious.

That's all part of cricket, from 9th grade all the way to international cricket.

I haven't read the Charter of Rules for Cricket, but I'd be pretty confident it would state something like 'playing the ball to an opposing fieldsman on the full is out' and then you will find in another section 'the umpires decision is final'…

Just because the umpire didn't give him out, doesn't mean he didn't hit the ball to an opposing fieldsman.

If any player knowingly stands their ground when they know they are out, they are cheating... Its just the casualness of this current generation who play on the technicality of rules! RL is no different. Look at Benji's 'grubber' vs St George in the 2011 Final Series... He simply lost the ball, but because it connected with his foot its a grubber... Please?!

LOL…I just knew would be in here eventually having a good old sook! Life must be perfect in your little PC world. Just to answer your dull first question. They played aggressive all game.. You say India was giving it back to the arrogant "pricks" Well isnt that exactly what we were doing?

Any excuse to sink the boot into an Australian team and you'll jump at it. :crazy

Was just building the anticipation for my trusted words of wisdom

Just telling it like it is. And as usual anyone who doesn't agree with your bogan ''bash their heads in'' mentality clearly must be PC

Sledging is one of the best parts of sport

Sledging your own players is even more fun

Especially as a keeper yelling a one of your own players "Great throw ,puss arm"

As for edges behind , sometimes you don't realize you have edged it prticular game when I supposedly edged a ball , was given , came off fuming , and the rest of the side are wondering why I was fuming

They reckoned they could hear the edge from where they were

Only in your world….the overwhelming majority of people I have heard and read disagree with you. Therefore your thoughts are not "as it is". It would be nice to read a post from you once in a while where you are not tall poppy bashing.

jonathon trott has gone home due to a stress related illness interesting

Must have done a heartlidge.

Didn't Trescothick go home during an ashes as well?

I haven't seen all the footage of what happened beforehand with the Clarke /Anderson situation but do I get the feeling that Anderson is time wasting and basically Clarke is telling Anderson to face up ( in a over the top way ) ??

I think you may be correct there. It sounds likes he's been dealing with this illness for a while and the intensity of the GABBA and an Ashes series was too much.

Stupid and uncalled for comment. Here's hoping Trott gets the medical help he needs.

That being said - no dramas at all with any of the on-field sledging, good on them! & by the sound of things Trott's mental illness predates this tour.

& Tiger Watto - you really believe that "the current generation" are the only ones who play to the technicalities of the laws of the game?? The underarm incident was a while ago for instance, bodyline, W.G.Grace "they've come to see me bat not you umpirel" stuff the technicalities even, he had been clean bowled!
Cricket is only a gentleman's game based on the old definition of a gentleman as someone "who who gets out of the bath to take a pee" (often attributed to Freddy Truman but who knows…)

In all seriousness if it is mental illness I do hope he gets all the help he needs. I've seen someone close in my family struggle with BPD and it's not pretty, especially when it doesn't take much for them to fall back into a bad cycle. Thing is though, they'd sure have a psychologist in the entourage, who green lighted him for this series if he was in a bad way?

As long as sledging doesn't start getting homophobic/racist I don't see a massive issue with it. It's almost as old as the game itself.

Apparently Trott has been struggling for a while now and questions are being asked as to why he was brought along in the first place. It was never going to be a laid back sightseeing jaunt after all. Perhaps team management are too focussed on getting the right amount of quinoa in their poached chicken salad to actually talk to their players and find out how they are coping.

Trescothick I believe had been ill for a while and the Ashes tour sent him over the edge.

Full credit to Trott for putting his hand up and being honest about it. Could have easily said it was a back issue that required investigation back home and left it at that. I wish him well.

It is probably the first sign that the Poms have just about thrown in the towel at this early stage.

You could understand if he went home after 3 or 4 Tests but it must be pretty bad for him to pull the pin after only being in the country for 2 or so weeks.

And they aren't sending over a replacement for him either apparently, which seems strange.

Sledging has been a big part of cricket for years and all teams do it,some better than others. the main thing is it dosnt get personal and is left on the field. Also if you dish it out than you have to be able to cop it when it is directed at you. A bloke like Warner has to be careful he is riding a big wave at the moment but it could dumb him hard at anytime. We have to be careful we don't give the Poms to much extra motivation to turn things around

Looks like Anderson may have started it anyway by threatening to punch Bailey

Two wrongs don't make a right , but people in glass houses ….........

Looks like the players are over it , so just let them get on with it
