CB Mate I don't know why you are getting agitated about my comments about Kallis

I've rated him in my top 20 all time and said he was the best all rounder of his generation

I was only asking a question about Gilly and Kallis

Some judges class keepers as all rounders ,some don't

I'm not agitated mate, I do rate Gilly as an all rounder because he excelled as both a batsman and a keeper.

I know stats don't tell the whole story but Kallis has achieved a bucketload in his career. If he played as many Tests as Tendulkar he'd have gone close to out scoring him I reckon.

Talking about retirements was saddened to hear that Kerry "Skull" O'Keefe will be retiring at the end of the current series

Greatest laugh of all time :roll

Bummed about this. Skull is the best commentator in the game with Jim Maxwell.

He will enjoy tearing Jonathan Agnew a new one in Sydney especially if we win 5-0 :roll

Did anyone notice the remarkable innings in the NZ v WI ODI?
Rain shortened match so was effectively a 20/20 game.
Corey Anderson of NZ hit 100 off 36 balls - world record.
Ended up 131 n.o off 47 having smashed 14 sixes and 6 fours.
Only spent 37 minutes at the crease LOL
Amazing powerhitting.

Amazing hitting but it must have been some ordinary bowling and on those smaller Kiwi fields

Talking of fields /pitches , is Sydney a drop in pitch as well ??

Nope and never will be thankfully. The squad is a bit hard during the winter months but it's a cricket ground first and foremost.

Apparently Piers Morgan introduced himself to Chapelli for the first time. It went something like this "Hi Ian, I'm Piers Morgan". "Nah mate, you're a d***head" was Chapelli's reply Hahahaha

Chappelli has some real estate interest in Gladstone and friends of ours deal with him through their real estate business

As they said "he calls a spade a bloody big shovel " and you find out quickly where you stand

Ian Chappell has always been arrogant …. He was a good captain and a good batsman .... But no better than Border, Waugh, Taylor and Clarke. If he was a clear second to Bradman I could understand but he's not. His brother is closer to Bradman than he ever was.

Rarely disagree with your thoughts Knuckles , but Chappelli built them into the unit they became until WSC became reality

His first foray into captaincy was against the Rest of the World and they narrowly lost 2-1 against one of the best sides ever assembled
They were rabble after Lawry was sacked and he took them to England with a heap of untried players (who were soon to become superstars ) and drew the series 2-2 , then won a series in the Windies v a very strong side (Kanhai ,Sobers ,Gibbs etc) without Lillee and Massie and then destroyed the Poms back in Australia

Greg Chappell was just riding on his coat tails as far as the captaincy , but as a batsman he is one of the most beautiful batsman I have watched along with David Gower and Mark Waugh .

I reckon Chappelli and our own Tommy Raudonikis would of been great motivators and great mates off the field

Piers Morgan booked his Ashes trip with the idea that he would be gloating over a England victory.

Things didn't turn out as planned.

Bet he didn't expect to find he ended up with a broken bone after facing Brett Lee

One of the stupidest exercises Channel 9 had come up with

I know we didn't see everything that may have occurred previously , but expecting a bloke to face 140+ kph ball from Brett Lee was madness without ever seeing a ball of that pace before

If he'd stood his ground with the first ball and it struck his throat and closed his airway …...

Maybe give him a bouncer last ball so he has some idea whats coming

Hello Richard Hadlee, is that you?

The only positive thing I can say about Morgan is that he handles the short ball better than the English cricket team.

Haha … Yes absolutely no doubt about that !
I have always rated Greg Chappell the beat batsman I have ever seen. Certainly from a technical and elegant viewpoint he was in a class of his own. My father took me out to see Pakistan 30 years ago at the Cricket Ground and Greg scored 210 after being sick all the night before and hardly eating a thing .... it was a wonderful knock against some quality bowlers such as Imran, Safraz, Qasim. But he wasn't much of a captain. He was so different to his brother. Ian was something like Clive Lloyd .... A somewhat intimidating captain. I suppose its hard to compare captains as they are all different as individuals and use their position in different ways. Border did a great job and laid the foundations after the Kim Hughes disaster. Taylor had a natural gift for reading the game and was a brilliant slips fieldsman while Clarke now seems to be coming into his own. Never liked Ponting as captain .... Great batsman but not really a captain.
Yes, Gower was great to watch and Mark Waugh when he was on was also great. I went with the old bloke to a shield match a few years ago against South Aust at the Cricket Ground and saw he and Geoff Lawson put on 170 between lunch and tea of which junior got 97 in a session. He put Peter Sleep on the members roof only just missing the clock .... The biggest six I've ever seen ! Geez it was good to watch ! I still like the Sheffield Shield you know .... Seen some great matches over the years .... Especially the Shield finals against Qld in the mid 80's .....marvellous games they were !!!!

Funny you bring up Kim Hughes

His last day as Australian captain at the Gabba , myself and three others school mates were at the game

We had a position vacant ad done as a banner

Still remember the following day seeing our banner being shown when the ABC news were running the story about him quitting

Hughes was a quality batsmen in full flight , the 100 he got v the West Indies at the MCG was one of the grittiest knocks I've seen , I think he carried Terry Alderman for about 30 runs and it won us the Test
