Cricket Season Thread

Yes there are,if you go migrate to a country as a child because the parents made the decision to go there it is very different to an adult being recruited to play for another country after you have shown ability.Just my opinion
I remember the Holioakes played for poms coz they were never getting a games with us, same with Ronchi played ODI for Oz and then went back to NZ bcoz he wasn't getting any more game time with Oz. Happens a bit due to relocation.

Moses Henriques with another great game for the 6’s and Ben Dwarshuis 5 for.
Home final for the 6’s at the SCG, by far the best cricket ground in the world.
Silly me I watched a bit and we were 2 down for not many and Moses was 1 off 10 balls so I went to sleep .Also because I had a 6.30 am tee time today
I wake up and are shocked to see us winning easily .
I've already confessed not a super fan of "franchise " cricket but better us winning then them .Well done "6"s !!!

So there are degrees of claiming players born overseas as your own?
I think the answer to your question is a resounding YES !

Ussie’s family migrated to Australia when he was four years old. He grew up in this country playing cricket. I have seen a picture of him and David Warner walking out to open the batting when they were around 12 years old.

Ussie is very much the product of the Australian pathways system.

Marnus was 10 when his family migrated to Australia. Again, he learnt to play his cricket in Australia. He is another product of the pathways system.

England, on the other hand, have selected many overseas players who moved to England as adults to play County Cricket. One of my favourites is Kevin Pietersen, who played first class cricket in South Africa and moved to England to play County cricket at the age of 20. His mother was English, so he qualified to play for England.

You do see the difference do you not ?

Similar to degrees of qlderism

Anyway,

Reckon Rex was the best as well as Col Pearce on radio.

Enjoyed Graeme Hughes in the 90s.

Can't handle Gus and the Johns boys.

Thanks for pay at least Smith is good.

Ennis is a cringe.

Enjoy blocker and miss Pearce's even handed analysis 10 years ago.....but we was winning then.
And Benaud, Greig and Bill Lawry were going to be hard act to follow.

They have thrown a mic at every ex cricketer since.
Tubby and Flem and now Punter would be my pics and Gilly, and Copes is great with the new tech. I like Skull but sometimes I can’t understand a word he’s saying. But he knows his international cricket. Ian Smith the Kiwi has also been good, has an unbiased view.
When it comes to footy Warren Boland. He’s one of ours. Blocker bags his own club and I hate it. But basically I hate everything and everyone who’s not with us, so eventually they all say something against us and get blacklisted. I hate them all at the moment, call me when we’re winning, I may hate less commentators.

Good list.

Ian Smith is good. Enjoyed former England opener with that cockney accent, Lloyd.

Used to like ABC cricket but like most things ABC these days....

Also Boland, Beetson and Peard were very good.

Are you watching tonight’s game?
It’s amazing how spin bowling is so hard to get away in this format. The two leggies have 2 each and then Short got one with some of the more average offies you’ll ever see. He then got cocky and bowled himself one too many and got punished. Then back to Pope and he gets another 2 wickets. Great to watch.

The thing that T20 has really improved and is now a highlight feature, is the fielding around the rope. Both catching and ground fielding has gone to another level. Someone saving one run can make the highlight reel and often does. The last wicket tonight was a catch where he throws the ball back up into the field of play and runs back around and catches it.

Yeah, he was much better on the radio.
He’s definitely got a head for radio.
Luke him or not, he is very knowledgeable on international cricket and cricketers, takes a little black book every where he goes. He’d be the first to say there’s nothing in it but apparently it’s full of tech cricket info.

Oh, by the way I heard we signed Laui.

Warne was excellent. For the short time he sat in the box. 😔

What a loss.

Saw his debut in 92 when Shastri was hitting him over cover from the Sheridan stand.

Feels like yesterday.

Peter Roebuck RIP along with Jim Maxwell who also done Saturday League before Boland I enjoyed.
