My company transferred me there from mid 1974 to mid 1976
Absolutely loved it .Of course I was young then and that was sure a long long time ago
Was able to attend 2 of our 1975 ODI world cup games
Vs Pakistan at Headingly
Final vs Windies at Lords ( which we lost due to 5 run outs ).LOL

Only comment on this 3rd ODI which we lost on DLS
Why leave out worlds best batman in Travis Head and if you must Steve Smith is not an equivalent opener .He was at one point 9 runs off 26 balls . If you must rest Head replace with someone likely to keep the momentum going eg Jake Frazer McGuirk

Aussies were 0-68 early on, then collapsed to be all out for 126, chasing 312 against the Poms in the 4th ODI at Lords.
These one dayers are a lottery.

England 2-166 in 22nd over .We are being belted again
A couple of reasons
First we win toss and choose to bowl on a flat dead track with 60m boundaries
Second we are really undermanned with available bowlers
3 only pace /seam bowlers and Zampa and 4 more part time spinners
Bowlers we would normally pick from , Starc ,Hazelwood , Hardie , Abbott , Marsh , Green ,
Bartlett , Johnson , Meredith , Morris , Neser ,Stoinis ,
We are playing only the first 3 .
Team management need to explain how we can go into a 5 game series with such little back up
By the way England 3-202 after 25 overs and Zampa 1-43 off 3 overs !!

England collapse badly to be all out 309
The main bowler responsible was Travis Head with 4-28 -go figure
Then paired with Mathew Short they smashed the English bowlers going at nearly 10rpo
We win by 49 runs DLS ( might say we won by a SHORT HEAD LOL)
We take series 3-2 a after drawing the T20 series 2-2 and beating Scotland in T20 3-0
Pretty successful tour considering the large amount of illness and injuries we suffered !
Now back home to face Pakistan in 3 ODI's and 3 T20's starting in a few days
Really think our Test stars should be preparing with redball cricket before the main match begins 1st vs India Nov 22nd .

Tom Latham will take charge of the team, starting with the upcoming tour of India

Trying to figure out what sort of team we can put on the MCG next Friday 4th for the 1st ODI VS Pakistan ?
We finished our UK tour in Bristol Monday morning our time
The absolute earliest these guys could arrive back in Australia is Today ! Or tomorrow even and then back up 24 -48 hours later with jet lag .This doesn't make sense
Surely first they would like to go home to their states
Are we going to come up with a team made up with who wasn't on the UK tour ?
CA website throws no light on this subject

Make of this as you will:

"Southee has captained the side in 14 tests for six wins, six losses and two draws after taking over from Kane Williamson in late-2022. The 35-year-old said the decision to step down was made in the best interests of the team."

I'd guess he went before the push.

It sounds like Cricket Australia have asked WT how to organise their schedule

Personally the only thing I really care about is the 5 test series against India who are going to be formidable competition .
I think Cummings could play these ODI's as he's been home throughout but think Head ,Smith ,Marnus ,Carey ,Starc and Hazelwood should play some domestic red ball cricket to get ready .
This test series will be epic !! Begins Nov 22nd !
