Hi guys did Warner bat well and will he keep his spot when Watson comes back or will they keep Hughes

A bit off track but Warner carrying his bat throughout the innings ,the last time I remember of a batsman doing that was Bill Lawry in 1969 has anyone done so since I tried goggling it but can't get the answer I want

On the first part of your post, Hughes has to go, he makes the same mistakes over and over again. Back to shield cricket to work on his game.

Second part, Kat did it in 2008 against New Zealand at the Gabba Scorecard>>> http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/351679.html

Mark Taylor did it against South Africa at the Adelaide Oval in 1998 Scorecard>>> http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63780.html

Boonie did it against NZ in 86\. Courtesy of a major batting collapse inflicted by not Hadlee but, another Bracewell. 58* out of 103 with only Wayne Phillips being the other man to reach double figures.

MM Do you think that Hughes would be better off spending some time playing County cricket If anything could fix his technical issues it could be seaming pitches in England to help his footwork and where his head is phsyically and mentally

Actually found a page on cricinfo containing a list of all the batsman who have carried their bats:

He needs to go somewhere (be it shield or county cricket) where he can work on his issues away from the media attention. It's not going to be a quick fix for him, and while his issues exist, world class quicks will exploit them, as they have done.

Have to say I agree with Happy. County would be ideal for Hughes, the exposure against foreign players would be beneficial as well. Only so many times you can play against the same five teams each year before you figure their games out.

I think County will help too, he played County for Middlesex I think between the 09 SA series and the 09 Ashes, I think he hit 4 or 5 centuries in a row. But then that may have been the catalyst for his 09 Ashes capitulation.
So he might make runs and get his confidence back or he might struggle but work his technique out through sheer weight of cricket and become a better player anyway.
One hurdle could be County sides aren't signing as many overseas players like they used too, they tend to bring their local talent in or sign Kolpak's and given Hughes' lack of form against England in particular, some sides may not want him as their overseas player.

Happy, you were talking about getting a stonewalling in to open. How about this guy?!

WM Robinson 3* (48)

No ,he is still far too attacking my liking Yoss

To be fair he probably edged one down to 3rd man and was called through for the runs against his will. He got to 3 off 50 balls (and then plunged his scoring rate to below 6/100 balls) before ruining things by leg glancing for 2…

That's Dravid-esque

14* off 73 now. Had a rush of blood and recklessly worked one behind square for a boundary.

Yeah told you he is just another Warner

Favourite attacking innings

Remember Lance Cairns smashing about 60 off 20 odd balls with that shoulderless bat against us in a WSC game in Melbourne

Ive seen it on World Series Classics. NZ actually got smashed in the game chasing a big target but Lance when down fighting.

This is the game you mean (I think) Happy

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65354.html

Graeme Wood made 91 at better than a run-a-ball so it must have been a belter which makes the initial NZ response look even worse.

Test matches two attacking innings stand out Roy Fredericks 169 v Lillee ,Thomson ,Walker and Gilmore 75-76 in Perth (remember no helmets back then)

Gilchrist in SA hitting some of biggest sixes I have seen

Yeah that's the one Yoss Graeme wood now there's a name i spent a long time trying to forget

Remember watching him in the Gabba Test v the Windies when we got steamrolled and Kim Hughes resigned Wood came out to bat and I bet a mate he wouldn't last the over out

Happy was right again :roll

Graeme Wood had slightly more ability than Jim Higgs with the bat in my opinion
