I don't see much in a lot of areas of Australian cricket to be honest MM

Batsmen nothing coming through that excites me

Quickies , wehave a couple of prmoising bowlers who are getting injured regularly

Spin it is shocking ,nothing in the cupboard and the bloke who I believe is the best of them Hauritz never gets a run

Clarke is the only genuine world class player we have apart from maybe Watson (and who knows what is going on there)

there is no way Watson is world class, doesn't deserve to be in the test side if hes not bowling.
 
This team is really battling, the best thing out of this test is how much a better keeper Haddin is, he can keep to spin as well as pace. The test matches against England could be a real horror for us if a few changes arnt made, can we go in with Hughes @ 1st drop? where does Watson bat & is he good enough to hold his spot if he doesnt bowl?. Maybe they could bring in Voges & he could bat @ number six? & who will the spinner be?.

Meant as an all rounder Dermo and batting at 6
 
Watson is one of the more overrated players in the game in my opinion. For all this talk about him being a superstar and what not, he has 2 centuries to his name, despite a plethora of 50s, and his average is below 40 (which means you are just that - average). His bowling is the greatest asset he brings to the team, but he doesn't bowl anymore, so that is wasted.

Agree Hap that Clarke is the only world class player we have, and to be fair, the only youngster we have who I can see reaching that level is Pattinson. Sidds and Starc are both quality, whilst the rest of the squad are ordinary players who appear a bit better because they are surrounded by other ordinary players.
 
Watson is an enigma. Adds value as an allrounder but if he doesn't bowl, his ability with the bat doesn't compensate for it. He's never looked truly settled as a batsman in the Test arena.

How pathetic is it in the Sheffield Shield final that the home team only has to play for a draw to win? Tasmania have home ground advantage and at the end of Day 1 they have averaged 2 runs per over for 92 overs- that is a good way to get people interested in going to watch local cricket! :unamused:
Surely if the game is played over 5 days and not the standard 4 both teams should have to win the match to be the champions. It is like having a RL GF where one team gets a 12 point head start.

If the Shield final happens to end in a draw after 5 days play then use run rate or something to decide a winner, that would be fairer as both teams start on an even keel.

Yeah it's pretty crap that the home side can doctor a pitch or just play out a draw and be considered champions.

Here's hoping this pitch keeps throwing up these variations. Any score is a good score on these pitches. The ball Hughes got that him in the helmet from a good length early in day one is just ridiculous.

Sour grapes much? every nation in the world doctors their pitches to suit them. Hell i remember a time when we had Warne and MacGill they were talking about playing to spinners at the WACA. The WACA!!!!
Why should the home teams do us favours? we sure as hell don't do them for anyone
 
The problem we have with our Batsmen is it starts with Warner who is runs or wickets, then we have Cowan who really is a plodder but he tries really hard, Hughes is not a number 3 full stop. Watson if he doesnt bowl well his batting wont keep him in the side which is pretty obivious, Clarke well what can you say world class. Smith seems to of improved a hell of a lot & would keep him in the team, The keeper is not up to it & i would bring Haddin back as he is the best keeper & he can bat, but main thing with a keeper is he must be able to keep & the other bloke cant.
