Who wins the toss in Sydney ,Adelaide and even Melbourne will be crucial

Whoever won the toss and batted first dominated every test in the last series. I really don't think we're too far off the pace if last series was a guide. Apart from Bell their batting was pretty dismal too

Agreed, Yoss. And didn't the Poms win all the tosses?!?!?!?!?

Having said that, the last Ashes series was closer that the final scoreline suggests. Rain saved them in one test and they won another by a few runs.

The series at home will be very interesting.f

Who do you see the aussie captain being in 4 years? (Clarke will be forced to retire in 2)[/quote

the only person i feel who can captain in the next 5-10 years other than Clarke or Watson is Steve Smith. obviously he would be a bit to young to captain in 2 years if Clarke retires. so i would have Shane Watson captaining after clarke goes and then steve smith as a vice captain. Once Watson retires i feel Smith could be the next captain. he has so much potential and i see him as a real leader in coming years. hopefully after he scored his first test 100 they keep on coming cause this kid can play. But that is only my opinion of course

Clarke won the toss and batted in the two drawn tests, both of which we probably win if not for the rain. England won the toss and batted in the three tests they won.

Honestly i've been saying this for months. The player that he was 3/4 years ago is gone. Now he is a true test batter. And he still is only 24! Here's hoping a couple of centuries come his way this summer to really cement his place in the side.
As for his bowling, he has the capabilities of being nearly as good as Macgill. An average of 45 is still quite handy for someone who has "let bowling take a back seat" the last couple of years, and he has stated that he will work on it more.

Plus he has a heck of a lot of experience in captaining sides (sixers to Champions league win, NSW shield, etc.) and is regarded by many as a fantastic tactition

I honestly believe there is more to Smith than we are seeing. I reckon he still has another gear or two which could see him a mainstay in the Test team as a six who can roll his arm over.

He should work more on his bowling, has a wicked wrong 'un and has variation which is more than what we are seeing from Lyon, Doherty et al.

if there is someone who hasn't heard this- but sachin will be retiring from all forms of cricket after his 200th test match.

he has broken countless records and has been a true ambassador of cricket. good luck to him in the future.

an article on his stats. if cricket had immortals- he'd definitely by one of the first picked.

How Australia found away to lose the last 20/20 was astounding

Australia's bowling tactics from overs 13-19 were strange to say the least and Bailey isn't a captains backside imo

I think you'd find he'd be second picked.

99.94 > 53.86

Lol maybe haha.

I don't like comparing players from different generations tbh. Neither you or I have ever seen Bradman play- but yes true that dons numbers are far more superior than Sachin in terms of effectiveneSs. I would actually even say players like hussey, bevan, dhoni etc are more effective than Sachin.

His strength has always been his longetivoty and amazing technique- and from all reports so does Bradman.

My previous comment was just a figure of speech into his stature.

Cricket won't be the same without Sachin ESP in India

We just set the Indians a formidable total of 360

That won't be easy to chase down

Bailey went nuts at the end , got 92 off about 54 balls

bailey is a must for the test team he can tie the innings together well and can do both aggressive and conservative batting will be the new hussey for the next 3 or 4 years

India's style of play is a lot like our old style of play. You can score a lot but we will score more.

Lack of their focus on bowling is annoying like our lack of it in defense

Need to pick more than two bowlers. Johnson had been in form and McKay has an incredibly surprising record, I like Faulkner and I think he could hold down a spot as an all rounder, but spreading the remaining overs between Watson, Doherty, Maxwell and to a lesser extent Voges/Finch is a recipe for disaster.

I doubt many other bowlers could've stopped India in that mood, and as much as I dislike Kohli, the bloke can bat. If we scored 60 runs less I think we were in with a chance. I'd like Ferguson to have a hit, but Maxwell is playing too well to be dropped, and Voges has been up there with our best lately too.
Coulter-Nile in for Doherty for mine, leave the batting is.

Clarke to give up captaincy, stay vice in tests, Bailey captain in all forms with Smith deputising in ODI's and T20's. Doherty, Hastings and Ahmed to never don the colours again, Lyon first choice spinner in tests and one dayers, SOK in T20 and backup ODI. Pick on performance not potential, someone send a copy of the Argus report to CA, I think they missed it.
