I doubt Smith is retiring. Warner probably will.

Smith looks fed up to me. He is being abused everywhere by morons. Got booed when he won MOTM in the second Test. His family left the stadium due to the treatment. He looks over it.I doubt Smith is retiring. Warner probably will.
My team would give Pat a rest he needs it
1.Warner
2.Khawaja
3.Labuschagne
4.Smith (c)
5.Head
6.Marsh
7.Carey
8.Neser
9.Starc
10.Murphy
11.Hazelwood
1 fast bowler L arm 3 medium fast R arm 1 genuine spin
Batting down to 9 .Maybe a Warner farewell

Win the WTC, scoring a century. Win the Ashes, clocking up another. Go out on top and make millions from the T20 tour.
Wouldn’t surprise me….
Same as me except 2 differencesMy team would give Pat a rest as captain only, he needs it:
1.Harris if he’s next, get him in.
2.Khawaja
3.Labuschagne
4.Smith (VC till walks on the field then C)
5.Head
6.Marsh
7.Carey
8.Neser
9.Starc
10.Cummins (C, walk on the field then VC)
11.Murphy, needs a spin friendly C.
Patty still does the lead up media, toss, etc. as soon as they walk on the field Run-Smith takes control with Patty right there under his wing learning, (Smith knows how to set a field for a spinner), but giving Patty less responsibility to concentrate on bowling well.
I know this is not the norm but neither is a fast bowler as skipper, or Bazball or a whole test of bouncers or much else on this tour, and we need to support Patty early on if we want a fast bowler as skipper and not burn him out. Anyway just a left field idea.
Warner should never have been taken in the first place, everyone knew it, but the selectors never had the Jatz Crackers for it. But now you want him in Oz bcoz his average is great at home. Is it worth dropping him for one game? If it means a better chance of winning then yes. So Harris gets the nod from me. All our top order have scored hundreds now but Warner and Head but he’s scored 3 50’s at a good rate. It’s time to give Harris yet another crack before we get home.
1 fast bowler L arm 3 medium fast R arm 1 genuine spin
Batting down to 10. Warner can wave farewell from the stands.
Anyway just my thinking for the team.
It’s a forum, Be sure to let me know where I went wrong.
Go Oz!!!
Stupid commentI doubt Warner, and to a lesser extent Smith will pass up the opportunity to be flat track bullies against Pakistan and the Windi’s this summer.
Yes same as but 2, and I am not necessarily against your team, and can see your logic, just I would rather support Pat on the field than drop him. And tbh I was posting similar team changes before the 4th test but the selectors mustn’t frequent the WTF cricket thread.Same as me except 2 differences
I want to give a guy ( Warner who's served us well for years ) one last shot so he can go out in style . Then for home tests he is just not picked . Harris averages 26 in tests
Other difference while I agree Cummings is a better bowler than Hazelwood I think Pats head is frazzelled at the moment . Give him a break
Leave your stupid comments in your pocketStupid comment
All teams prefer their own pitches. They all have their home pitches designed to help them beat their invited opposition.Leave your stupid comments in your pocket
I wouldn’t either after a tough tour.I doubt Warner, and to a lesser extent Smith will pass up the opportunity to be flat track bullies against Pakistan and the Windi’s this summer.
At the risk of abuse, why do you say that? And I just read your reply where you go on and double down @Fallen AngelStupid comment
There doesn’t seem to be many quality openers/ top order bats knocking the door down in Sheffield shield. Harris seems to be next in line again. And young Pucovski keeps putting his head in the way. It’s a team transition concern. We definitely need to rectify the opener situation although I think Uzzie will play on with the form he’s been in, but if The Run-Smith retires soon we’ll be thin.I wouldn’t either after a tough tour.
I hope smith continues on in his career. He still has lots to give if his hearts in it. There’s a huge gap in experience if Warner, Smith and uzzie (getting long in the tooth) all retire in quick succession.
The bit where I doubled down explains it.At the risk of abuse, why do you say that? And I just read your reply where you go on and double down @Fallen Angel
Warner has already come out and said this is exactly his plan.
Final test is Pakistan In Sydney and short form world cups would follow ending with t20 wc.
Stupid comment or facts form Warner?
He and Candice had the media around before the team was selected in a well orchestrated nudge to the selectors to pick him for Ashes and he’ll retire from tests after the next home series and never travel again. Worked well, he got picked when he should never been.
I reckon he listens to Candy, and I reckon she’d be pretty honest with him, it wouldn’t surprise me if she knew all his stats and is telling him where and when he needs to call it to finish on a high. Something the selectors couldn’t do.
Any man who has a good women he loves is stupid for not listening to her.
“Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
That’s why we can’t have mass retirements like we did when our best ever team finished up. Apparently Warner and Khawaja have some sort of pact to stagger theirs. The Australians are going to face a rebuild over the next couple of years. A lot of the team are in their early thirties to mid thirties. Our bowling stocks are good, plenty of younger kids ready to step up. Batting is not so good. Kids today have shaped their skills around the shorter forms of the game and very few have the skills to grind out a long innings
