Cricket Season Thread

Women’s U19 T20 World Cup just started and Australia has just trounced Scotland. Bowled all out for 48 in 15 overs, chased down in only 40 balls.

15 year old Caoimhe Bray fresh off a maiden WBBL campaign with the Sixers finishes the match with figures of 3-1 off 3.1 overs 🤯.

First women’s ashes T20I on now. Phoebe Litchfield channeling her inner Maxwell with a switch hit over cover (in normal stance) for 6.

Healy and Gardner out due to injury. Voll opens and scores a quick 21 (11) before getting out. Mooney and Litchfield now going just over a run a ball. Grace Harris in to replace Gardner on the back of a phenomenal 140 off 78 in the WNCL a week ago. Not sure why she is listed at 7 below Sutherland and McGrath because she’s a much better bat than both of them.

With Healy and Gardener out there is always someone else that stands out
Our score 7-198 impressive as many contributed and anchored by Mooney 75
With the ball great start as Schutt and Garth get both openers for a duck
Then things started to go south as Sophia Dunkley was belting balls to and over the rope .They were half way there at the 10 over mark
Then in the midst of this mayhem Alana King comes on and bowls a wicket maiden .Then the killer blow is provided by Captain Tahlia McGrath who not only got 26 off 9 balls at the back end of our innings but bowls Dunkley
From that moment on it was basically game over
A real Captains effort by McGrath
Now 8 points to nil its already Ashes retained
Well done Ladies !

So tonite its the Thunder vs Stars
I should say Sydney vs Melbourne but in reality the Stars squad of 14 has 3 guys from WA ,1 from Qld 1 from England 1 from Pakistan
Similar the Thunder has a few from other states and a couple from England and 1 from Pakistan .
When I follow international cricket the entire squad are Australian so its easier to get excited
If both Maxwell and Stoinis fire tonight then the Thunder don't stand a chance but don't care much
The main game is Australia win 2 tests in Sri Lanka starting next week and we win the Champions Trophy a few weeks later which would complete the full set in the Trophy Cabinet

T20 franchise cricket leaves me cold and i honestly do not care who wins or looses.
I find I cheer for the two Sydney teams.
I can barely remember which one is which at the start, but I end up going for the Sydneys by the end of the comp.
And players, so Maxy last night, I was hoping he’d go nuts and get beat by the Sydney team by one run.

I feel nothing for it but I admit I have watched it more than ever this year. Some of the games have been entertaining.

Its not for us cricket tragics though. The kids love it and it has attracted people to cricket who otherwise would have had no interest.
I was out at the Thunder game last night. 1 adult and 3 kids cost me $50. So many kids there, they were handing out the buckets, 6 signs, green sunglasses to all the kids.
