first-ever?

I see Ben Stokes as the key to the whole series. If he performs, I think England go a long way towards winning. One of the greatest competitors in any sport in the world atm. And the best allrounder the game has seen since Kallis. He’ll make or break the series imo.

He is for them.
But not as much as the last ashes, they have blokes still there from their last moral victory that have matured in their game while Stokes has had some injuries. This is what concerns me, I think they are a more resilient team this time around and have lost some deadwood like fatty keeper who like to wander. Hopefully some of the new names are deadwood too.
The new young keeper reckons he can’t hit a wheelie bin from a metre out?
Still a bit weary of Stokes he probably sees this as his last big hoorah and would love to go out winning in the great land of Oz.

Have to clear up the moral victory BS. That stems from a reporter asking Harry Brook before the last Test, last series that if England win the last Test, and draw the series, would they see it as a moral victory. Brook said yes. No one in the team ever claimed they were morally superior to the Aussie team, which is misinformation that’s been passed off as fact.
