Our weak bowling line up is going to burn Starc out
Hope you are well rested Capt Pat
Doggett Green Useless
Boland and Neser barely ok
Cant keep expecting Starc to do it all

No Lyon a big mistake by selectors

The commentators are right ....the over rates are shocking
Smithy has done it on purpose the last hour and it’s bitten us.
They could loose points on the WTC table for this, 74 overs is right up there with withe the WI’s of the 1980’s. The WI teams of the 70/80’s was the main reason the min over per day was bought in.

Starcy looked completely spent at the end, without him this bowling line up is extremely ordinary...i honestly think the future of Aussie cricket is not great, there is not many young gun bowlers or batsmen coming through at this stage

Fergus O’Neill is a gun but not getting many wraps for some reason. Averaging something like 20 or less with the ball and a handy bat. Think he bowls reasonably quick as well.

But yeah not really much out there otherwise. I guess I just used this to spruik Fergus O’Neill.

yea good call, Fergus name has been talked about a bit, hopefully he keeps improving

Anyone see Lyon’s interview? Absolutely livid 😅

The series really needed yesterday. The team winning the toss and batting through day 1. And it’s good that it was England because they really had the potential to completely disintegrate after Perth. They still could lose this Test, but at least they have made a fist of it and done their bit to take the match till at least Day 4. As long as the Aussie don’t crumble today.

I need to get something off my chest which has been gnawing at me for a long time. The state of cricket commentary in 2025. We really had no idea just how good we had it with Richie and co did we? Richie would turn over in his grave if he saw what commentary has become. 7 or Fox, take your pic. Today, it’s all about them, they’re the stars. Watching Fox yesterday, at Tea and they showed a reply of the wickets. But we also had to see a camera on the box, watching them as they called them. And don’t even get me started on Triple M. They might just be the worst. The only true team that resembles the old days is the ABC. Jim Maxwell is the best cricket commentator in the country and it’s not even close. Back to Fox, they started talking about an English declaration when they were 5 down. As the wickets kept tumbling, the talk got louder and louder. To the point when they got 9 down, they could not believe that the Poms kept batting. Even when the last two were hitting them everywhere. I’d say it turned out to be a good decision. Root is still there, if they come out again today and knock out another 30 or 40, that’s going to be a pretty formidable score. Yet these clowns wanted them to declare at 9/270. Just to get a few overs in under lights. Sure, it works if you get a couple. But if the opposition finish none down, suddenly you look like idiots.

We were just talking about this yesterday champion @GNR4LIFE.
My family goes back a bit, like Alan McGilvray (ABC), who much like Benaud, just had that understanding of the game, but mostly respect for the game and the viewer/listener.
It was a seamless watch/listen, the game the commentary - you felt you were there, every ball described with the smoothness of an elegant drive through the covers.
Today's TV commentators are oral social media wannabies.

The only way Fox commentary could be worse is if Dan Ginnane was given the job

"This is Peter & Rob White.
Peter is blind, but that does not stop him from following England around the world with the Barmy Army.
He takes his radio with him everywhere, and talks to Rob about what is happening on the field.
THIS is exactly what cricket is about."

Its the Amerification of our sports. All about personalities and bells and whistles. How pointless is that balance graphic on Fox?

I just watch it on mute now as ABC never seems to sync up.

These first 2 tests have really shown how blessed Australia have been to have Starc, Cummins and Hazlewood going together. They bowl as a unit and so share the wickets a lot of the time and often not one stands out. When you remove 2 of the 3, the 1 remaining stands head and shoulders above the replacement bowlers.

When modern batsmen achieve anything, people are quick to highlight they benefit from bigger bats, smaller grounds, covered pitches etc. By this logic doesn't that make the efforts of modern bowlers even more impressive?

They aren't our best bowling group ever, even if the statistics suggest so, but they aren't that far away. I am just going to appreciate watching them go around for the next year or two, like I did knowing I was watching the twilights of the great Australian team of the 2000s.

That is fantastic.

I hope they loose.

The fox box? What a self indulgent, ego driven wast of space. “get me more air time than the actual talent”

I, as I am sure you do to, I know all the players, all the rules, stats, and strategy, and quite often turn the commentary off. You don’t need it. I will turn it up when I need to know something but otherwise I don’t need it. I will almost always watch NRL this way as that commentary is the worse. You can add meathead to ego, and self indulgent when it comes to NRL commentary. Although I must admit if we are winning well I do turn it up sometimes.
All the T20 competitions have given rise to all these commentators too now, it seems like that’s their retirement fund. There has already been news on how good Uzy will be in the box.
