Going into a Sydney test without a top line spinner was madness and a real kick in the guts for a handful of spinners around the country who could have been very useful. I think if they had picked Murphy we would not be watching cricket tomorrow. Iam not saying Murphy is a world beater but on a fourth day track in Sydney he would have caused more problems than the quicks

It was about someone who was in jail but apart from that i can't remember except it probably cost us winning a test at a ground we don't normally do well at.

Actually yeah now you mention it the IRA protest was in 1976 England v Windies .....still remember Dickie Bird sitting on the pitch with the fans .....memory is fading as well

No the guy was an englishman whose name was Chappel which stood out because of same name as Australian captain at the time .
He was arrested within 24 hours charged and heavily fined but alas cost us a probable test win

Steve Smith has 215 test catches which is one behind Joe Root with 216 who leads the tally world wide but given Smith has played 40 less tests its obvious he will soon lead the list

One thing I like about these Aussie groups like the Richie's and the Storm Troopers etc etc is they are just about fun .Not about National pride ,Patriosm and glory songs just simply FUN !

Special shout out to Mitch Starc as he played 5 tests on the trot and on day 4 of the 5th test he was still bowling ball after ball at speeds well into the 140 kph +
He must be tired but his fitness is remarkable
He has given up millions in Franchise T 20 cricket to dedicate himself to Australia test duties
He is retired from T 20 so won't be part of the T20 world cup next month
Can look forward to some golf and I hear he's pretty good at it as is his wife

England lose 2 -40 in 13.2 overs ( 80 balls )
Took our champion Starc to pick up both wickets
Starc now 433 wickets 12th on the all time list and only one of the other 11 has a better strike rate
Australia need 160 to win series 4-1
Whatever Ashes retained , Series won !
