Finally Green a good catch and Weatherald a good throw made a contribution
In general however I thought a lot of our ground fielding looked sloppy
maybe players tired as 4th day of 5th test

Back in the 80,s Australia in England were in a position similar to this going into the 5th day .However an English fan with the name of Chappel snuck into the ground and dug up the pitch so the match was called off and declared a draw
Police charged the guy but a dreadful act of cheating to salvage a draw .
Don't remember us going on and on about it .However the Bairstow stumping was considered the crime of the century .Hypocrisy !
If no flood then digging up the pitch another option .
Once in the 80's at the SCG Australia needed 125 in the 4th innings on the 5th day .Australia collapsed from 3-80 to be all out 120 vs South Africa
So its happened before but doubt history will repeat
On that day Fanie De Villiers took a bagful

If the Poms could eeek out another 40 or 50, I’d give them a hope. But their attack is shot. Stokes probably won’t bowl and Potts wouldn’t trouble a decent club batsman.

As for Bethell, I’ve been keen to see him play for the last six months. Hindsight is 20/20, but who knows how it could have turned out if they ran with him from Test one over Pope. Special player.

He did look decent but the acid would have been applied in Perth on a very lively pitch and also at the Gabba.By not rushing him may turn out to be a better long term option.
