Crowe wants Sheens at Souths

It will not surprise me to see Sheens go to Souths. Some people will be eating their words I think.

It may even be me.

Yeah cos that proves a good point.
Maybe should bring our Phar Lap again.. he was pretty good back then so must be just as good now.

Deadset zombat.

Last 12 years has a win rate of 37%
His time at the tigers with a win rate of %45

Only 1 year in 12 years has he achieved above 50% (2005) and this year manages a 50%

Besides an overall rate of 50.17% does not make anyone a mastercoach.

Sure he had some good times from 1984-2001\. But thats going to be 9 years ago. Time to put down the sick dog… its run its course.

Other coaches (just so you know)

Craig Bellamy 69%
Wayne Bennett 66.67%
Steve Folkes 59.46%
Des Hasler 57%
Ricky Stuart 57%
Matthew Elliot 54% (and hes a deadset moron)
Brian Smith 53.8%
**Tim Sheens 50.17%**
Neil Henry 45%

We beat Henry yay!!!!!

Lamb was 32% so i guess in that aspect we have taken a step up.
Wayne Pearce era the club was broke as so its unfair to even count that.

Feel free to discuss (or point out any important coaches i missed as im pretty tired)

You say when pearce took over for 1 year we werew broke they got 8 mill form the league for merging so that commnet is wrong.

CB - He has done well with the storm but he has only coached 1 team and there not short of superstars let him coach a team like souths and see how he goes.He has done well at origin hasnt he.(INCASE YOU DIDNT KNOW)

WB-Obviously a good coach but lets be real here he did coach the broncos and from the very start they were jam packed full of stars. Not a bad base to build on with plenty of money in the bank as well.doing well with saints but they havent won anything yet.

SF- has only coached 1 team and they cheated in the salary cap for years before they got caught and they got stripped of point but te stats remain and if they didnt thats 23 wins of his percentage.

DH- only coached manly for 135 games so lets see how he goes over a longer period. But yes he has done well building his team from scratch.

RS- Wait a few years and see what it looks like it dropped dramtically this year.
And just think this is the first team his coached that hasnt got a open chequebook.

ME- suprised at that stat but it will drop over time hes coached in the nrl for only 5 years.

BS- No grand finals who remembers who come 4th so wat the point.

None of these coaches you mentioned have coached for long except for bennett and folkes and look what hey had to work with.2bad years with 1 club they may go to and those stats drop quickly.

Atleast sheens isnt scared to take on the hard jobs he been doing it aLL HIS COACHING CAREER.

And you refuse to talk about what he did at penrith or raiders so not much of a arguement

oh and mathew elliots coaching stats in the nrl not including bradford is in the 40sif you look properly.lol

2002–06 Canberra Raiders 125 59 1 65 47%
2007– Penrith Panthers 34 14 0 20 41%

Just because we're all over the hangover of missing the finals doesn't mean sheens gets away scot free as usual.

He should be replaced, as long as there is someone decent to replace him with.

We have a good side, that have for the most part played together.. Id much rather have a new coach in now with the **talent we have** rather then letting sheens stay until 2011/12 when some of our key players move on and then we have to start rebuilding the club in the dark times (roosters to mind anyone?)

The talent we have dont you think Sheens has built this team.If it wasnt for sheens we probably wouldnt know these kids like you do now.

Sheens recognises talent second to none and players wanna play under him.

Oh well we will see.

'Recognises talent second to none',this the same bloke who replaced Prince with Morris, and stuck with it for 2 and half years, the bloke who thought Lima and Tandy were crap, who Bellamy has turned into good props, something we need.
You are kidding,Sheens is stubborn and plays favourites, his team selections and bench rotation are a joke,I say go to Souths and take Royce with you, thanks for 2005 but we have to move on.

Yes he does and for the hundreth time prince was always going to leave and yes morris wasnt a halfback,he did sign head in 08 but that guys got issues. bennett doesnt use him either.

Whats tandy done and lima well its hard to guage how well he goes he isnt playing for a bad team isnt he and when your winning all the little things you may do wrong get ignored or not seen.

Newsflash for ya 851 every coach has his favourites so whats new .

See im not kidding am i.

Unless Crowe is really serious about getting Sheens and is prepared to pay out the remainder of his contract, Sheens will not be going anywhere next year.

crowe makes a minimum 15 mil a movie ….a payout would be chicken feed to him.....

Yeah he may do that but he has already made it clear hes not going to keep putting money into the club.

Sundays papers tipping Sheens to jump ship. Its seems to be gaining momentum. Dont know what to think and my guess Gentles would be high on the list as a replacement. Anyway plenty of us have been calling for the coaches head, but sometimes its better the devil you know than the one you dont.

Would be good if we got Gus Gould with Matty Johns as assistant coach! :sunglasses:

Heard on Hollywood and Zorba tht Folkes is the firm favorite …......seen having Latte's and everything with Richo and Lang......

My Guess will be a person with the initials of SF will be on our books next year.

Shane Flanagan…..he'd be a good replacement for Royce under Sheens.....Hope it comes off Bug.....

Was more to indicate sheens is sliding in performance. No doubt he had good times at panthers & raiders. He has the aussie gig now to keep him going. Step aside and let someone else have a chance.
Pearce started in 94 and only coached 2000 (one year after merger) so i think its fair enough not to include him.

As ive said, happy to let sheens go as long as we have a decent replacement.

Just a hypothetical (seeing we know were a good team)
If we win 2010 (the GF) happy to keep sheens on for more years?

Kearney and Flanaghan, both next big things in coaching, just like what Terry Lamb was when he signed with us. Do we really want to go down that path again?

You and I both know we won't need to mate. Sheens will be staying.

i dont want sheens to go if it mean royce or gentle will be our HC

i want some one whos served a solid apprenticeship like kearney, millward or a proven coach like folkes.

the thing is i cant see sheens leaving the tigers for another club at this stage of his career, i think he will either be offered another 3 year deal with WT which he will accept or he may just stick with the aussie job with no club commitments

The issue with an outsider coming in is they do not know or have a lot less knowledge of our players and their skills, including u20's, BRET and Magpies.

The Fonz has an intimate knowledge of all these players. So too does Roycie and Peter Gentle.

The Fonz has indicated in the past that he comes as a package with his staff. So if the Fonz moves on do we lose the other assistant coaches as well? Do we lose Andrew Leeds, Cherry Mescia and Doctor Donald Kuah ??

That is a major factor in all of this.

So for example if the Foz was to move to Souths, would Souths need John Lang there still? See, it has a ripple effect. Its like musical chairs.

I hope Gentle stays, but i hope its in an assistant role to a much more senior coach, so he can learn the style of others as well.

If the Fonz is elsewhere in 2010, we need some sort of continuity and debriefing / briefing process for the incoming coach for 2010.

Well unless he has some sort of get out clause in his contract, he will be going nowhere unless the board rubber stamp the deal and I dont think the time is right for a change of coach. We need Sheens to send his troops off on a break and than bring them back and put them through a "mother" of a offseason. On what i have seen this weekend we would have been in the mix but to make the big games you have to win the close games mid season when your down on troops and your getting some crook calls from the refs and that comes with attitude and toughness.
