Culture Change (Lol)

I agree with someone else's comment that this is a predictable and boring thread, full of angry wishful thinkers venting their spleen when their team disappoints them. As others have pointed out, Cleary has done a great job with the defence and the team now competes in virtually every game. However, we just don't have the game breakers in the squad to overcome a poor performance. The class teams find ways to win when they don't play well and we are not able to do that. I wasn't at all surprised that the Tigers lost last night. We were always going to suffer a psychological let down and the Bulldogs were always going to be tough to beat. The club, as a whole, are moving forward well and that's all we can ask for this season with our limited squad.

With all due respect.. That's garbage and making excuses.

Stop excusing mediocrity… It's not good enough and it's certainly not a culture we are looking to foster

Not the result we wanted but I and many others saw it coming.

Better than JT as a coach by a country mile. Nothing IC could have done, that result was on the players. We do not yet have the team that can get up week in week out.

Got up this morning made my coffee and said to my self let's see what chicken little threads were started. ….........

I think Ivan's expectations are in line with were we are..he is been around long enough to know that in this rebuilding stage. Being above more fancied clubs like Manly, or the dogs, is in itself some achievement.. What may be happening here is that the hunger we as fans have to make the finals doesn't seem to be there in the players when it matters. There is no "eye of the tiger". This is a character trait, not something you can install in a club without there being a leader on the field, someone that can crack the whip so to speak. We haven't had someone like that for years.

We've all seen it for the last seven years and you have a crack at people posting irate threads?
Sounds like you've become attuned to mediocrity… You said it yourself

X2 Clearly a team in transition. Our squad is about 6 players short and we have a lot of young guys adapting to the rigours of week to week competition. I suspect the hia’s played a role on my understanding these players would have had just 1-2 training sessions.

The season has been a success….our marquee signing played about 2 games. A few of our younger players have made big strides and the journeymen have done their best, not good enough but we can build from here.

I wonder why JT got bashed from pillar to post for failing miserably for not fixing the defence when it was his number one goal, yet Cleary gets a free pass for not changing the culture when that’s his main goal. Double standards.

Ohh please get over your defense of JT

You cant see rhyme nor reason on anything when you are fixated on him.

Double standards champ

You are the most yo yo supporter on here, it’s bewildering. You’ve been all over the success the last two weeks and we lose a game and your world comes crashing down again. To be honest your not a genuine supporter, and if there were more like you (thank god there isn’t) we wouldn’t even have a fan base.

Back to your favourite topic of JT lol. The JT you were still defending after nearly 3 years in charge. If you can’t see how much this team has changed then your delusional. So quick and ready to throw Ivan under a bus any chance you get just so you can continue your JT obsession. It’s sickening, I feel sorry for you.

Well said!

The only double is standard is how long he gave JT compared to how quick he is throw Cleary under the bus.

This place is predictable if nothing else. Ok they were off their game and are not going to make the eight, but they have just beaten two of the heavy weights so it’s not all doom and gloom. The 30 players we have at present were never going to get us into the eight., but some tweaking over the next two years and we should end up with a good squad.

Last night just highlighted the need to buy some quality, but we do have the coach to take us forward

Why do you think people are so frustrated? Pull off a couple of performances like that, then come out and surrender to the worst team in the comp. It was proof that this club has not turned around, winning games against teams we should beat comfortably when everything is on the line.

I read your comments in the live game thread. Even you were getting frustrated with Cleary, questioning where this so called culture change is.

Yes thats true I do question the supposed culture change.

I cant see any improvement.

But you only started this thread to defend your buddy

So it’s okay for you to question the coach, but not me. Funny how you are never around whenever I have anything positive to say about him. The funny thing is, you agree with me.

Okay I know its already over and done, but does anyone else get the vibe benjis head just wasnt in the game and should've been replaced by gamble/lolo (if they were named in the 21, cant remember)

I know he has a family emergency in NZ as confirmed this morning on his insta. And judging by his body language on the field last night he was quiet. Didn't talk much on the field and when Bulldogs strolled in for their 2nd try he just looked very unhappy

I wasnt aware of this but he was dreadful last night, this probably explains why

What a supremely boring and predictable thread. Good news is coach is in place for 2019 so we can concentrate on something else rather than whinging about it.

I find the comments funny, along the lines of "every year I get sucked into believing in this club" - fool me twice, they say?

We are a battler club. If you want that to change, great, me too, you don't get dynasties swapping out the coach every 2 seasons.

I’m not saying he should be sacked. Far from it. But given the advantage he’s had with our cap, we should be much better placed. I don’t think it’s unfair to say that this year we have underachieved, especially after our start. Tonight was indefensible. Everything was on the line and we put up the white flag.

I disagree. I think we've over achieved based on our squad. I also think it's a big call to lose 3 out of the big 4 who we were building our club around and then to state that he has had an advantage with our cap. He only had that advantage because we lost players that we wanted to keep.

And it seemed to rub off onto the rest of the team regarding our attack

Not attuned to mediocrity. Alligned with reality.

Certianly not having a crack at anyone for posting irate threads, just new that there would be threads about how coach is this and players are that and i wasnt wrong. I didnt think in my short history on the forum that i come accross as a poster who takes pot shots at others.

Based on our first 8 weeks, and the last two, I can’t buy that. This team has shown they can compete with the best in the competition. Its left us with no excuses.

People saying that the results are good with the squad need to remember we have most of them for a lot of years.

The ones on shorter contracts have been our best players (e.g. Lawrence).

I do not think that any side that has a nucleus of Mbye, Nofa, Reynolds, Matulino, ET, Packer and Twal for the next 2 years will be premiership contenders.
