Curtain call for Lawrence

Happy - this is mostly towards you -

Nofoluma is now playing in the center position again this week.
Last week, some forum member hinted also that this could be the end of Lawrence, for a second, so did I, but you said that it's basically because of a fitness regime more or less that he is playing center.
I agreed with you - i put it down to that.
But this is 2 weeks in a row.
Is this the normal transition from an injury - if you are a top gun winger playing in the centers to get back on the wing?

I think it would help with both his fitness and timing in defence and attack

But JT is the master of his own destiny , maybe he has some questions he would like answered for his own peace of mind ??

Maybe JT wants to be assured that Nofo is not a centre.

I could tell him that but maybe he wants to see for himself.

Simple….we need to develop greater depth in our three quarters. At full strength on what I have seen, Rowdy's place in the team is under threat for sure. Unless we can turn him into a backrower, or unless we get another injury plague, he will be on his way to England....no NSW Cup.

Makes sense. Wonder if he'll do the same with Kev.

Kev would be cannon fodder at Centre… Its one of the hardest positions to defend @ NRL Level. The exciting play will get you selected, but if you cant 'read', you will get found out really quick at this level.

I'd be keen to see Kev get a run at Fullback if the opportunity arises. He would be pretty good with space, but god, those catches are heart attack material!

I have seen no one catch bombs like Kev

I'll disagree on this one Watto as a mate I work with played lower grades with Kev and said he was primarily a centre/fullback before transitioning to the wing later in his career. Based on what I've seen so far, he makes the best defensive reads of all our backline.

I thought his reads on the wing so far have been pretty solid?

You must be kidding TW. Kevin is a very good defender and is one of a few in our team that can read the plays very well.
He would make a good centre.

Nofo seems a pretty intelligent player.

Whether that equates to good reads in defence I don't know.

But he seems to have more potential than just being a finisher.

Besides the spine, he and Sirro are the two that seem to have the most potential yet to be unleashed.

Kev greatest asset is speed… He uses it well to adjust in D. Happy to give him a go, as both our current Centres are below par.

But, If Kev was a Centre, he would of played more than 27 Games in 6 years of NRL.

Not knocking it because it seems to work , but I don't think he will be selling too many copies of his new book "How to defuse bombs"

It looks very awkward

Re: Kev's catching technique; if it looks stupid but works, it's not stupid, if it ain't broke don't fix it etc.
I'd have him playing centre ahead of Nofo though

AHX,just my thoughts,I think JT has quite a bit of depth in the backs this year and at least we have backs playing in the backs not second rowers etc like in the past..
Once everyone is injury free JT has enough prowess as a coach to see who is better suited in which position, maybe he may play Kev in the centres and Nofo on the wing..I'm not prepared to flick Lawrence straight away,I seen some improvement last week and he could get better or he could get worse. If Rowdy doesn't come good then I would like to see Tim,Kev in the centres and Nofo on the wing with Richards…the thing is if you can play centre and wing it benefits the team as a whole especially if you have speed and can defend well, you only have to make minor adjustments and not have to reshuffle a lot.
