I heard Brandy Alexander on Sydney radio SEN this morning where he said that, at this stage, both Laurie and Burton would be held by Penrith to honour their contracts for 2021.
So he was saying no swaps earlier.

Alexander is a nuffie

Hardly.

So someone was saying last week they have inside info about Laurie coming over early and will be done either this week or next ? Does anyone know if that's still the case or was this just someone having a guess ..

Signs appear that he is not coming, he is at a training camp with panthers. Who knows maybe after that he’ll head over

I think tigerballs said after this week, so might be worth holding out til then. that said, being on a training camp and not being left at panthers HQ makes me think they might hold onto him for the time being.

Even if he did it adds little benefit for the start of the season. Can’t see him starting or coming off the bench. Prefer to hit another 2 players up / see what some fast trailists could do. We have Laurie from next season regardless & have a heap of cash/roster positions free next year as well.

After reading the last few posts I would think it is unlikely to happen so if I was the club I would be organising a meeting with panthers Crichton just to get them to have a big think about this whole situation ... Even if we don't get him i think the club has had an excellent off season considering the way it started.

Recruitment team have done a fantastic job

I’m glad Laurie could join us early but sad to see momo go would have liked to have kept him I’m sure he would have got plenty of game time

Plenty of competition for positions with a mixture of youth and experience. Interesting times ahead.

WOW .. he’s Tedesco-like!
Another step closer to making Mbye extinct ... ✅
Typical Ivan though, drawing it all out to limit Laurie’s offseason preparations with us ... in any case we are the winners.

Massive momo fan but the move does help our squad overall ten fold, the need for depth in the #1 and #6 is a must

I'm hoping this signing turns into something really positive moving forward. Potential is not a guarantee, but lets hope he does well. Welcome aboard.

As for Momo, never been a fan but I wish him well. He has never bagged the club, always looked for opportunities and probably helped the club in that respect, so Thank You and Good Luck.

Hats off to Hartigan and the recruitment team. He’s a pioneer, introducing trades into the NRL. I think the move will benefit both teams. As much as I miss Momo, given our shared cultural background, I welcome Daine and hope he succeeds as our long term fullback.

Wests Tigers have today confirmed the signing of Daine Laurie, effective immediately, after the talented youngster was granted a release from the final year of his contract with the Penrith Panthers.

Having originally signed a two-year deal with the club for the 2022 and 2023 NRL seasons, Laurie will now link up with his new club for the start of the 2021 NRL season.

In addition to the signing of Laurie, Wests Tigers have confirmed that centre Paul Momirovski has been released from the final year of his contract to join the Penrith Panthers.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe welcomed Laurie to the club and thanked Paul for his service.

“We were extremely pleased to secure Daine from the start of the 2022 season and to have him join us earlier than expected is a great boost,” Pascoe said.

“Daine is clearly an exceptional talent and we’re very excited to see him take the next steps in his rugby league career in a Wests Tigers jersey.

Pascoe said. “Paul is a fine young man who has endeavoured to improve both himself and the team since arriving to the club and we wish him nothing but the best for the future.

Laurie will join his new Wests Tigers teammates as the squad travels to Tamworth today as part of its 2021 preparations.

Yep, would have been much happier with a Cini-Laurie swap...
