Daine Laurie #237

Curious to see why there is so much hate for Cini.

His defence was pretty bad in the trial last year, but that was a year ago. Have you guys seen him since then and he hasn't improved?

Just find it strange that most seem okay with Kepaoa dropping the ball 5 times a game because he's young, but have completely written off Cini due to his defence.

A lot of young players have a weakness in their game, thats why clubs spend big on training and coaching staff. A 19 or 20yr old very rarely has a complete game.Brooks was not a great defender, but now one of the best.Lets see how they develope before dumping them.

Completely agree which is why i dont bag young players.Cini Seyfarth and Hoffman are all developing still, lets see what 2021 brings out in them

He has played 1 game since then as far as I'm aware due to covid. Rd 1 Canterbury cup last year. That's why I find it interesting so many people want Madden to play or Simpkin in rd 1 this year. These guys due to no fault of there own have played no footy. They have only been training which is no substitute for playing.

Just calm down everyone .....your expecting a 3 game rookie to completely organize the worst defensive line up over the last 10 rounds of 2020 in 6 weeks

I'm excited Laurie has signed ...but don't expect miracles from Rd 1 OK

As for Momi ...he was no Steve Rodgers .....but any bloke who is prepared to put his own career plans on hold to help a club he was only at for one year ......is the type of bloke you want in the trenches with you

Good luck to both boys .....hope Daine is a 200 + game WT and Momi has the Footy gods smile favourably on him ...he is a true class act in my eyes

I’m glad Laurie could join us early but sad to see momo go would have liked to have kept him I’m sure he would have got plenty of game time

Yep, would have been much happier with a Cini-Laurie swap...

Cini is a gun

It seems we have a lot of guns at wt let’s just hope they turn out to be cannons and not pop guns.I prefer a proven nrl standard player

And where do we get them from? It’s not as if we aren’t trying for what’s available.

What you say is correct I guess that says something about how this club is viewed by some players

I keep reading this version that Momers went to Melbourne in some Mother Theresa-like altruistic gesture. Its probably more likely that he wanted to go down there, opportunity for first grade, training under Bellamy etc etc.

Agree 100%. He had the opportunity to go down to a club that was a premiership threat (and eventual winners) and be coached by Bellamy and play with some of the best players in the comp.

Harry Grant was the one that actually had to sacrifice more, as I have no doubt he would have forced his way into first grade and got himself a premiership ring.

How and where was Harry going to force his way into 1st grade .....especially when we had no unders football

Harry got far ,far more out of this ..he has proven he is a Top 4 hookers and probably tripled his value come next contract .....Momi was always going to be a fringe NRL player at Melbourne ...and then it questions why he would sign with the Tigers in the 1st place if he was thinking that way ......

For sure we need to start winning, or do what the Dogs and others are doing, pay overs, but the club has chosen another path and I am happy to see how it plays out.

I think we have recruited very well this season and still have a few to go.

I think you got things wrong mate, and not criticising you ,but Momo had a contract with us,could have said no to up and leaving for 1 year but seen the benefits for himself, the club and Harry..
If your honest with yourself,Harry would not have seen fg being behind C,Smith and B Smith,he would have been lucky to see a game because there was no CC...
The move benefitted both players and both clubs,in my opinion Bellamy and Madge were the 2 centre pieces that got the swap done ..Melb needed a centre and WTs needed a hooker...Momo would have played finals last year except for injuries and Harry played state of origin because of Madges coaching and giving Harry an opportunity to show his undeniable talent..
People will have varying opinions but as it stands I think Momo is a quality player that is a suitable NRL player that will do his ultimate best while on the paddock,Harry was able to show how well he can play and has shown that he can make the step up to origin level and perform very, very well...
To be really honest both these guys have shown what they have, although at different ends of the spectrum as far as talent goes as well as different positions they play, the WTs and myself should be proud that both gave the very best to us while here and I wish them both every success in the future...

Yeah not sure they would have kept Harry in reserves last year, they were desperate to keep him so I think they would have played him. All hypothetical though, we’ll never know.

My point is Momo had a lot to gain by going there, definitely not the same sacrifice as Liam Fulton did a few years ago.

Both players have improved due to the loan.

Absolutely agree. He's a young player who's extremely dangerous in attack but weak in defense. He's also had 12 months of training to work on his defensive technique and ability to read the game in defense.

Don't forget he played for NSW and Aussie schoolboys. Was always a huge try scoring threat as a junior. Of course not all gun juniors kick on, but just because he had an issue in his game when he was 19 is not a reason to write him off!

You look at Nof, someone who's had massive defensive issues his entire career yet still has a solid first grade career. If Cini improves his defense and gets there's no reason he couldn't have a successful first grade career

You can't compare Tedesco and his injuries and Mbye mate

Tedesco was injured Game 1 and what maybe 20-25 games in with the Canberra knee injury ...the 2nd injury was an a million to 1 injury clashing knees at full speed ...think I'd heard it happening at top level once before when it occurred .....but he was on nowhere near the money that Mbye is on at that stage

Welcome to the club Daine.
Looking forward to watching you grow and
fulfil your potential.
