I cant believe some of the diatribe on the forum at the moment because we have signed an unproven young gun supposedly going to be a revelation at fb starting from this season and most are bagging the crap out of a player who was paid big money to come to us,has had great form when coming to us,played SOO and can play several positions at any one time..Mbye has carried a groin injury last year and didnt play up to his paycheck, dont forget Tedesco was paid huge money to be with us we nurtured him through bad injuries and he turned his back on us not once but twice until the money was right,,,at the very least Mbye took on the captaincy, was shuffled from fb,to 5/8 to centre and is a utility most clubs would like to have..
Im all for bagging players who dont put in,but Moses has never bagged the club, has taken positional changes on the chin and is there to help the young guys adapt to NRL level football..
I dont care if Mbye gets a gig somewhere else once his contract is up..I will be the first to wish him well...some on here put the future of finals football on someone who someone has an opinion of..when Laurie plays NRL full time for at least 2 years and then becomes a SOO prospect then we can say what we like about other players...he is young and learning, doesnt mean he will be a sensation after a couple of games ,,,remember Brooks and his debut...the next Joey Johns they said...has he played origin or led the west tigers to the semis in the last 9 years,NO.but he has had excuses, and rightly so.Mbye is a seasoned player who has been there done that but cops garbage criticism because of his payckeck...its the NRL most big signings are a punt until they play a fair bit of NRL...yet some on here are raving on about a rookie who hasnt even played 10 NRL games yet....please...be excited for the club, but dont bag the club, coach or recruitment if things dont work out....ITS A BUSINESS....SUCCESS AND PROFIT RULE THE ROOST...always remember that...no matter how much you pay someone or how much time you put into developing a player if they dont succeed at this level there is always someone waiting to fill the void.......cheers God love the WTs and all of you lot....

You can't compare Tedesco and his injuries and Mbye mate

Tedesco was injured Game 1 and what maybe 20-25 games in with the Canberra knee injury ...the 2nd injury was an a million to 1 injury clashing knees at full speed ...think I'd heard it happening at top level once before when it occurred .....but he was on nowhere near the money that Mbye is on at that stage

Ok Hap,what I will say is Tedesco was a junior that the club placed a lot of faith in...he was nurtured and given whatever was needed to get back to NRL standard which the club did,,,in return Tedesco kept looking for a bigger paycheck and a path to playing finals football...it didnt work out that way and instead of sticking with the club he found a way out by taking an offer from the Rorters...NO LOYALTY and loyalty gets you nowhere these days, but he could have considered how much the club had done for him to be able to take that offer..
Mbye was recruited, big money and was fantastic for us at the start..shifted from pillar to post in different positions because of his talent, took on the captaincy, got injured and still speaks highly of the club, helps the young ones to adapt to NRL and was injured last year,so in my opinion everyone bag the crap out of him for doing his best for our club....the main gripe is his paycheck and that wasnt his fault...I respect him for doing everything right while wearing our colours,if someone doesnt like my opinion they can go to hell ,because most on here are fanatical fans that WANT it to go how they want, but dont understand or have an inkling what really goes on in NRL clubs and what it takes to even be at that level of player....
S orry about the rant but as I have said many times before criticise all you want but at least walk a mile in their shoes at this level before belittling them..not saying you have personally Hap,but I think you know what I mean...

A lot to take in ...brain going to explode .....help me

You cant be that senile yet mate.....:grimacing:

LOL another Forum member @jirskyr asked the same question earlier today lol .....but I remembered his name so I can't be senile .....your simple nuts ...so take your assless chaps and your double bike and stop sending me mental ...ok ....lol

CTE?

Don't joke ......take out the massive anger issues some with CTE get and I fit a fair few of the main issues ..and suffered 4-5 concussions in my last season ...3 in about a 5 week period .....last one a fly would have done more damage I was told

As I have spoken about before, I know a former 1st grader who to me is showing signs of issues in his 50's. I also remember a friend of dad's growing up who was an amateur boxer and he was the typical punch drunk boxer, slurring of the speech and forgetfulness.

I was lucky as I only ever really copped 1 head knock when I played. Knees and ankles are pretty bad but I'd take that over anything head related.

Isn’t Laurie a cousin of Jimmy the Jet? Maybe I heard that wrong ?

Tyrone Roberts - Davis is Jimmy's cousin.

Diane Laurie is his uncle.
Mentioned on the round 20 telecast when he played fullback in place of edwards.

Ha ha ha, sorry mate, but someone will tell you?

Lol. That the autocorrect. I didn’t even notice it.
Diane must be a more popular name than Daine. Is that something the developers can fix up coz I’d imagine the name Daine is going to be mentioned a lot more than Diane going forwards.

If Cordner isn't a poster boy for for CTE down the track then I'll be amazed. The bloke seriously needs to consider his long term quality of life.

I'm only 38 and had my fair share of head knocks and facial fractures over the years. Wouldn't say I've battled severe concussions over short periods however I've found myself forgetting words or spelling of words I would previously have known. I don't suffer the anger issues however I'm far more sensitive to bright light and loud/high pitched, unexpected noises now. I find many small things irritate me that in younger years I wouldn't even blink at.

Wow, I spend a weekend watching Little Athletics State qualifiers at Narrabeen and come home to some great news - wasn't expecting this to be honest.

I still Mbye will start the season at fullback, but once Laurie is brought up to speed, I think Moses will end up the bench utility.

Do you see this impacting Simpkin’s game time this year provided Mbye has more utility value or do you think injuries might negate this factor?

dout simpkins would be ready until 10 games in or so, Maybe then depending on Liddles form or injuries he takes the 9
Mmbye is great utility value though

I think Simpkins will debut even earlier than that, internal sources have been saying he could be a chance for a bench spot round 1

Simpkin the hooker or Simpkins the back rower...?

bart simpson i think...

It’s Bart Simpsons isn’t it?

On Sunday the Panthers released Daine Laurie to Wests Tigers in exchange for Paul Momirovski. It is understood the Tigers are paying the majority of Momirovski's two-year deal as part of the swap arrangement.

Highly doubt this considering he was the player chasing a release, We have ample salary cap room and he was more for depth... Hope the club comes out and shuts this one down or even @THE_POM

That sounds about right.

Especially considering we've probably already paid him 30-40k of his salary for the current contractual period

This literally can't be correct seeing he had a player option for 2022 - unless he took it up very early and then decided to leave but surely that wouldn't be allowed

Why not. Siro did it.

What’s it matter that we spent some money to follow through with the swap?
Of all teams we probably have the most excess in salary cap prior to start of this season. We also have to spend is it 95% of the cap by March? If we pay more now while we can to get Laurie into our system quicker isn’t it still a win win?

On Sunday the Panthers released Daine Laurie to Wests Tigers in exchange for Paul Momirovski. It is understood the Tigers are paying the majority of Momirovski's two-year deal as part of the swap arrangement.

Highly doubt this considering he was the player chasing a release, We have ample salary cap room and he was more for depth... Hope the club comes out and shuts this one down or even @THE_POM

Whatever has happened it is done ...let's hope he is even bigger than the hype

Small isn't he
