Dale Finucane

I wouldn’t be going 3 or 4 years with him.

Give him 2 years with a club option for a third on very good coin (200k more than other clubs). That way we have options if he starts to show his age.

Origin quality players attract other quality players. The extra 200k would be well spent. I think our young forwards like Stefano, Mikaele, Blore etc. would learn a lot from him.

Finucane and Nicko Hynes showing as both off contract 2021 though I think Hynes has since resigned. With the best spine in the comp salary cap pressure comes into play especially with a number of the forwards including Jessie Bromwich,Kafusi and B Smith off contract 2022.
Storm are in the enviable position of having a 5 man spine with 2 hookers just as good as each other.
So a decent play for Finucane is not out of the question and at 29 a 3 year contract should be looked at especially with Packers money being avaiable and Finucane is a far better prospect to us than Packer. Then there's the possibility of Mbye money becoming avaiable early.

We have to aim higher then Finucane and Hynes.

I reckon aiming at current origin players is pretty good

It really has the makings of a desperation signing. A coach under huge pressure to retain his job making a signing, any signing to justify a continuation of his tenure. Self preservation over the long term good of WTs. We've seen this script written before in the NRL.

What's desperate about signing a very good forward? Desperate would be signing Shaun Johnson on huge money or something along those lines. If we were to sign him, I wouldn't want it to be crazy money it would need to be a reasonable deal

We don't need an ageing player with hard miles on the body. He's a role player but the Storm know when to let them go. Probably suitable for Maguire's' robotic style of football but we need much better.

He's exploring other options because Melbourne have salary cap issues, Melbourne will be happy if he stays. I don't even think he's robotic, he's got a bit of footwork and has played as a link man lock for Melbourne plenty of times.

The salary cap issues that see the Storm signing Coates. Free to explore options = tap on shoulder. Time's up.

We have James Tamou.
We need a solid lock, but no need to lock ourselves in.

And...No. No nope nadda.
Noooo!!!!

Melbourne play and train good players. We don't play to their style and those players don't work here. We would be better to look at Victor Radley, Angus Crichton or more Penrith. Heck Penrith have a bunch of Juniors looking for a first grade sniff.

No more storm. We learned from Adam Blair.

BTW did Finucane play for us at one point?

An average player made to look better than he is by the talent around him - Munster, Hughes, JAC, Papenhuyzen, Smith and Grant. We have enough of these types. We need much better quality.

100%.

Plus he looks like a rugby player and has the name to mention it. Nico Hynes? Pathetic

Please point to the article where it says we are signing him?
I agree we need experience and someone like Finucane offers that in spades. Until last year he was an 80min lock. It’s just the game has changed. This year he is more suited to a prop role, but when you have the option of a Mikalee block busting runner and a Finucane stabiliser you think about why you would bother especially with Twal on the team.
If Twal was to head somewhere else, it may be an option. For me I’d prefer the cheaper, dependable Isaac Liu. But what we really should be considering is offering Isaiah Papali half of what you guys are suggesting to pay Finucane to lure him over to us from the eels.
Players like to get paid, and his shown his playing beyond the $150k contract that the eels have him on.

I’ve tried to like Twal but I think he plods. Mikaele at 13. Wow! Make it happen

He's gotta fix his defence for that to happen, it's pretty crap sometimes.

We shall consider Simpkins at 13, and if we want a big name Taumalolo, Murray, Crichton, Graham or Radly.

Finucane would be brilliant. Not worried about onfield performance too much, he's the ultimate professional and he would bring plenty to the dressing room. What he could teach Stefano, Musgrove, Simpkins, Twal etc could prove invaluable.

Not worried about onfield performance too much!!!? Wow...

Are we not already getting that from Tamou?
