St George in at $850k for 3 years. A 29yo who whilst very handy, is not far away from hitting the wall pretty hard in my opinion.

If the drag queens want to put that sort of money into a contract which is basically 1/11th of the cap, be my guest. Ridiculous money….

You have got to be kidding , thats huge money.

It is . For a bloke that Craig Bellamy respects enough to make him club captain

Come on people wake up and smell the roses. We give blokes that much money to sit on the bench , leave games at half time cos their foot is cold, play reserve grade.

Can’t cop Dale Finucane bashers on here, the bloke has probably never let a soft try in like our guys do weekly, and he plays in NRL grand finals most years. Let’s be real.

take him out of that storm system he will not be as good

A projection people are making based on??? Adam Blair 8 years ago.

the guy is 29 in a tough position wanting 3 years the juice is dry
move on to someone else

Have a look whose available

We have to improve our squad if we're to have any hope of making finals or better. Given who's avaIlable now we've missed out on Pangai, Finucane is an Origin player and his signing would sure give us some much needed credibility as a club worth joining and maybe even get us a few more quality recruits.

You have a leadership dinner consisting of Sheens, Noddy, Tamou, Finucane, AD, maybe Steph takes a leap forward, all of a sudden the papers aren’t printing so many ‘basket case’ articles and players might be more inclined to sign our contracts.

Still a no from me. Not worth anything like 850k now (was he ever?)

The last few games I've seen him play were not that great (including SOO).

Pass.

Apparently Cowboys have offered Finucane $600K a season for 3 years.
That seems like about what he is worth at this stage of his career.

I would think that is a pretty good valuation.

Brent Read saying 6 clubs in for Dale. Thinks titans have nose in front. Also, either this week or next he'll most likely make a decision

Do Gold Coast even have a cap

Good question.
They are loosing Ash Taylor, so that is a million freed.
Boy they have some high paid players. David Fifita was above 1 million I thought.
They got AJ Brimstone at a steal at 500k.
Otherwise yes, they have overpaid a lot.

I Guess Newcastle is holding 2x 1 million dollar forwards. So it's doable.

Maybe not, but at $850k a year for 3 years, tell him he's dreaming

I'd love him here but I hope we don't make an offer. The only contract we should offer is 2 years with 1 in our favor. We shouldn't offer anymore than 600k per year.

Yeah mate lets be real. Ok, its a 50/50 call. He is great now. But he is 29. Finucane is a quality player, would love to have him here - but for $850k a season, maybe 5 years ago. He will always give his all but when you look at a Stefano on $266k a year, I know where I would prefer to spend the funds.

You can get Finucane and upgrade Stef. It’s a 9-10 million dollar cap. Well the good clubs can have more than one good player, somehow we can’t.

I've said this previously but 850k impacts your cap massively. Anything over 500k is a top salary. Just say you have 400k per squad to pay overs to however many players. That to me means excluding that money no player in your team is on 600k. That includes your spine positions.

There is no way in the world you pay that money to a player like Finucane. Melbourne would have him on 500k at best. That is why they win.

This here is a more realistic figure. It's actually top dollar. It's what you pay your halfback.

That 600k contract may hurt the Cowboys. Just put that in perspective.

Lots of maybes and possibilities. The most likely one though is we go backwards. If you can get him for 600k I'd consider but even then it's risky.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a magical re-signing announcement with the Storm on the eve of finals if Bellamy really wants him.

Nobody has offered him the 4 year deal he was after which would make him 34 by the end. It's also been brought up about a few calf issues (aka old mans injuries) that he has had of recent times.

Agree, he no doubt is a good player, but big money is for blokes who will turn the game and give you a win imo?
I don't think there are many forwards who do that? C Smith certainly comes to mind, Fafita (Titans) did it for a game or 2.
He is no doubt a good player & would be good as a mentor for our young blokes, but I would rather a gun back for those type of dollars.

I would think that is a pretty good valuation.

Maybe dangle a 650k for 3yrs carrot and see if he takes it. Still not massive overs and getting a proven winner and leader who may in turn attract others.

He isn't my first pick but the way i look at it is we offer the 650 over three. My reason is it's basically packer money but should produce alot more. Him added with tamou next year gives us two hard working forwards that will lead the way on and off the field. Our dynamic stuff can hopefully come from our young fellas coming through like Lucy, Stefano, tuki, blore etc.
