No way in the world should the Sharks be in the 8.
Crap team apart from their Captain and really landed on their feet with the softest draw.

Sort of the opposite of us?

Once our chances of playing finals are over (probably now), I’d give Mbye a go in the halves. Couldn’t be any worse than what we have, and if he is, then at least we’ll know not to try it next year.

I would drop him and make Benji captain for the remainder of the season. As captain he is more inconsistent than anyone. You can’t drop Brooks and Marshall for the same issues and give Mbye a free pass. Message has to be sent.

Oh i'm not saying it as a way of promoting him in some way. ***I'm just saying that with the season gone*** the difference between finishing 10th of 12th is inconsequential. We might as well take the time to try some new things in preparation for next year. Just my opinion.

Ye of little faith!!!

Exact same position as 2005 with 8 rnds remaining. Yes, weirder things have happened as history suggests.

Throwing in the towel now and simply giving up is no option and I believe the players feel the same.

This is not the 2005 side, if you think we can win 5/8 games and maintain for and against, hope other teams lose games expected to win, your dreaming.
If we finish where we are now 10th that what the expectation would be.

No....that is your expectation.

Not mine, nor a few others on here.

I don't get why people are having shots at Daley and Buzz, sure we know this, but the wider community now get an insight in to what we are up against, at the very least some of these players might lift out of sheer embarrassment, and at best just agree to leave

When they say "stars" who exactly are they referring to?

Reynolds
Mbye
Packer
Brooks
Lawrence
Benji

None are what I'd consider stars, Benji and maybe Reynolds at their peak were stars.
Not anymore.
Surely Benji and Rowdy retire.
I'd love us to offload the rest.

We have 8 games left of which 6 are against top 8 sides. We haven't beaten a top 8 side all year

Perfect opportunity to buck the trend this week.

Momentum is a vicious beast. Once it changes it's hard to stop. Top of the ladder teams won't sustain this form continuously

Well your an optometrist or optimist, think we can win the next 2 maybe, but will be found out last 2 rounds, Storms, Eels.

We used to go well against the storms

Use to lol - Yes we always seem to play well against them and fall short just like some of the other Top 4 teams this season, Panthers/Eels.
Grant will be looking to prove himself.

We all have different views i just prefer to live in reality, Great you all have this optimism and if it prevails i will be the 1st to congratulate you on having such high expectations. Only time will tell, Cheers Coach lol

McQueen, E Taylor and Jennings off contract at the end of this year as well as a number of players on low value contracts. Plus we get the $375K back in the cap.

We should have around $1.5 Million to spend.

Hopefully we can jag a centre and a decent 5/8...I'm dreaming

That would be plan A for sure, apart from not renewing Benji and Rowdy which should be a no brainer, the other ones might be quite hard to move along, but we can live in hope

Benji and Rowdy aren't the problem because they aren't the guys getting paid the big dollars. They are probably helping us out at the moment.

If the others play to their best we can get some value out of them. Brooks and Mbye may come good.

All we can do is use the money that we free up wisely as these guys roll off contract.

The point being this cap problem is going to get better.

Bugger that ..
I’d bench the imposter.

lol..We'll need a bigger bench..

There will be more on the bench than the starting side..

Get @happy_tiger out of the drive - thru if need be and give him Mbye’s role whatever that is .

Like most forum members I have never played NRL. Daley won 3 Grand Finals, captained NSW and Australia and with Ricky Stuart formed one of the great halves combinations. Stuart might not be the nicest human but his will to win as player our team could only dream of. Had injections in his groin at half time in front of team mates to get back on the field.

He was also looking for a Job at the Tigers last season but was not allowed with his gambling media interests, the NRL said can't do both.

Shame we missed out here. Our halves could've used some mentoring. Brooks has really lost out in this department at our club over the years, even in the players he's had around him - no one to really lead the way as he was adapting to first grade.

Why Madge will be kicking more chairs; headache Panthers didn’t see coming: Rd 12 Talking Points

You’ve got to feel for Michael Maguire. Since taking charge at the Wests Tigers he’s tried to stamp his mark on the team. But every week he must find himself more and more frustrated.
He’s had challenges besides defensive systems and tip sheets to navigate, it must be said.

His top three earners are Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer and Moses Mbye.

Reynolds and Packer have barely featured for him, Mbye has shifted to centre from fullback but nobody is quite sure where he is best suited.

Madge LOSES IT at TigersMadge LOSES IT at Tigers0:30
Rosters take time to change, so Maguire has had to work with what he’s got. It must feel that when he takes one step forward with this group, though, there’s another one backwards.

If he had hair he would have surely pulled it out by now.

One week they play with effort and desire, others they turn up as if they believe their own press.

Read on for all the Round 12 talking points.

They will win games and lose games. That’s life. That’s sport. But at least when they do lose, Maguire wants to see them doing it while scrapping and fighting for every blade of grass as they did against Parramatta a week ago.

Against the Warriors, though, there was none of that grit we witnessed against the Eels.

This should have been a game for the taking when they raced ahead to a two-try lead. Most teams would turn the screw at this point.

The Tigers just didn’t and the Warriors crept back into contention.

That’s what saw Maguire kick the chair in a half-time rant. No wonder he was angry, they were unrecognisable from the side that went toe to toe with Parra.

We’ve ticked over the half way point of the season and the Tigers are placed 10th.

Their run home is not easy. They face the Knights, Bulldogs, Roosters, Panthers, Sea Eagles, Rabbitohs, Storm and the Eels. At their best, the Tigers could win at least five of those games but if they’ll need to find some consistency quick smart to do so.

If they finish ninth, missing out on playing finals by just one loss, this defeat could be the one that comes back to haunt them.

I'd be considering extending Packer at a lower rate per year for the next two years. Next season he;s on 650k? Maybe 700 but i doubt it. Offer him 800k for 2021 and 2022 and free up more space for next season's cap, like the deal with Lawrence a few year's back. Perhaps even 900k for 3 years but that might be wishful thinking.

Daley quotes are interesting. Doesn't he have a relationship with Madge and was sounded out for an assistant/halves coaching role?

Wonder if any of those quotes were planted and come from a bit closer to the club than the article suggests

Ivan bent us over, no doubt about it. A third of the cap in 3-4 ordinary players. I think we have the core of a quality group and if we can spend the $2.5-3m wisely once Mbye, Reynolds, Packer etc move on, there will be greener pastures. I hate continually looking forward to lock in the year we will turn it all around, but at this stage I see continued improvement next year and a much better side in 2022.

Worst part is he gonna win Comp this year.!
