Canberra have signed former Wests Tigers utility DANNY GALEA for the 2010 NRL season.

The 26-year-old will add some depth to the Raiders squad following the departure of PHIL GRAHAM, ADRIAN PURTELL and NIGEL PLUM and retirement of GLEN TURNER.

Good luck to him.

He could have done some good things for us given the right chance, but thats how things go. Considering the talent we have in the back row, i dont blame the club for letting him go, but he was much better than some people think. If Liam and Heighno struggle next year, he'll be sorely missed, but if they dont, well it will be the right decision by both Danny and the club.

I wonder if this increase the chances of us getting Lima?

It feels like galea was hanging around for an opportunity, perhaps that door has been closed?

Well said Sirro…....

Good Luck to Danny at the Raiders....hopefully he can cement a starting spot.....he will be good for them....

What a joke, he was one our best defenders but Sheens always seemed to have something against him. Really came into his own last year but still spent too much time on the bench. He will kick on at the Raiders just like Bronson.

You can not have a squad of fifty players. Is it the right call we will not know till next year. But good luck to him, he will add some starch to the green machine

I second Geo's call, well said. Danny deserved an NRL contract and he will definitely add some depth to an already sizeable and solid forward pack. He'll really help tighten their defence around the ruck also. Good luck to him.

Raiders sign Danny Galea

November 4, 2009 - 3:46PM

Canberra have signed former Wests Tigers utility Danny Galea for the 2010 NRL season.

The 26-year-old, who can play centre or backrow, will add some depth to the Raiders squad following the departure of Phil Graham, Adrian Purtell, Nigel Plum and retirement of Glen Turner.

"I'm going to be given a good opportunity to play some more NRL footy at the Raiders and I can't wait to get into it," Galea said.

"I just want to get on the field first and get myself a position, whether it is starting or on the bench and then hopefully help the team get down to winning some games which is the main thing."

The Raiders begin their pre-season training on Thursday.

Watch Harrison and Galea be in good form as they'll finally be used properly, not stuffed around by Sheens.

Hear hear

If his departure let's us grab Lima then i'm cool with this.Dwyer,Hyland,Mataka coming thru leaves us with plenty of back-up for Heino and Ellis.Wish him well though,he always put in.

Another very good player treated poorly by Sheens and only offered very poor money (Like Gallant).

The Fonz has made another poor decision here. Danny Galea walked of the field every game in 2009 with his head held high with some great perfomances. he cut other players in half with his brutal defence.

The Fonz mystifies me by getting rid of his best performers.

Completely dont agree but I guess thats why everyone has their own opinion. Galea is ordinary at best!

His cover and scrambling defence won us that match against Manly. His D will certainly be missed. He was ordinary when he came off the bench, he was best used starting at lock or 2nd row.

Apart from Ellis, who in our team hits harder than Galea ?
