Danny Galea

Yeah it is a shame that he is leaving when he scored that try all the players seemed really happy for him, so he must have their respect. I would rather he stayed and Fulton moved on anyway that will not happen.

I guess one thing came from this signing was the rumours floating around on this forum that he as off to Canberra came true, lets hope all the other rumours and speculation also come to fruition.

Another very good player treated poorly by Sheens and only offered very poor money (Like Gallant).

The Fonz has made another poor decision here. Danny Galea walked of the field every game in 2009 with his head held high with some great perfomances. he cut other players in half with his brutal defence.

The Fonz mystifies me by getting rid of his best performers.

Completely dont agree but I guess thats why everyone has their own opinion. Galea is ordinary at best!

Apart from Ellis, who in our team hits harder than Galea ?

I actually think Galea hits harder, at least consistanty throughout the game

Galea was a tight and solid defender who will be missed. I wonder whether the club was aiming for Lima and getting Galea if they couldn't get Lima. I wonder.

During the second half of this season Danny really showed what he is capable of and I thought his contribution in defence was outstanding.

Unfortunately, as others have said, you can't keep everyone. Danny had limited impact in attack, and there are others that are more effective in that area coming through, such as Dwyer and Mataka. For whatever reason, Fulton appears to have a hate club growing, but he offers just as many tackles a game as Galea (yes less punishing but I think that aspect of defence is over-rated) and infinitely more potency in attack than Galea. So, unfortunately we say farewell to someone who made a whole-hearted contribution in the interest of improving the overall balance of the team.

I thought Danny Galea was a very honest, hard-working forward, who added plenty to our defence. With the number of good, young back-rowers coming on, he was probably surplus to our needs. Liam Fulton will have to show more than he has in the past to deserve his contract over Danny.

good luck danny u deserve to have a solid run on spot , at least he was one player u knew when it got tough he didnt go missing . even if we have some juniors coming through i would of offloaded 1 of them for danny is a seasoned 1st grader and the raiders will be loving it , i agree with letting bronson go but look how he has come on so i hope danny you can do the same . I am running out of galeas for my username now and more MALTESE coming through ?

I don't think dominating tackles and putting players on their backs is over-rated at all. It is a vital component of a good defence.

I do hold out hope that Fulton has used the UK programmes to add some bulk to his frame

So we've re-signed Fitzhenry, but let Galea go?

:brick:

It's not like they offloaded Galea so they could sign Fitzy - you're comparing apples with oranges. If you want to complain about WT re-signing Liam Fulton you'd have a better case.

I don't think we resigned Fulton anyway.

He was already signed for 09 and 10 but we got some suckers in the UK to take him off us for a year.

I think Galea is a real loss but it's just one of those decisions that have to made in a salary cap environment. Can't have Heino and Payten (and I was one that asked for Heino and Payten) to be resigned, and have Galea too it seems. Best of luck to him though as I always felt we looked a better and tougher team when he was out there.

Well chose to re-commence using his services then.

You must be kidding right??

Offload one of our juniors to hold on to danny galea!!! Pull your head in mate. The roosters took that stance when they signed O'Meley and Mason, letting go of a heap of juniors in the process, namely Blake Ayshford!! I don't know about anyone else, but i'd much rather see galea go then Dwyer, Mataka, or even big al or Fafita!

The roosters u said offloaded a group of juniors i said id let 1 go to help keep a seasoned first grader . There are a couple of good forward juniors coming through but we have only seen them mainly in u/20s. Where alot of the time we see them running out wide at opposing centres ?? not a good guide! when danny galea was a rookie he was a solid defensive centre and now his defence is getting better and i would much prefer that then a couple of the juniors we have coming through who will mature in the next 2-3 yrs, and hopefully be come great players . Regards ASHYFORD correct me if im wrong didnt the roosters give up on him because he had 2 season ending injuries with them and then the tigers picked him up ???? just what was said when we picked him up

Big red & the Gibbonator & Taniela & Chris Lawerence & Scando & sometimes Heino & Bozo put in some very hard hits on the few games I saw in the E.S.L…............................

Big Red hits hard, no doubt, but in my opinion, no where near as hard as Galea. The others you have mentioned all make contact as hard as they can but again, no where near as hard as Galea.
