David Nofoaluma #164

ok ok ok.

If there was no article, Noffa turned up to training. Stayed late to pack up the witches hats, would you still be happy he was in the starting FG team come rnd1?

Sorry to say but there is almost nothing constructive about anything being said. It’s just a big pile on, on an already highly unpopular player. No one knows the real story, just have automatically taken the contrary position to the guy because it’s him. Ain’t no way would this level of vitriol be aimed at any other player. And of course Benji is automatically being hailed the hero here because he’s smack bang in the middle of his honeymoon period. It’s such poor form that most of you are letting your emotions rule your opinion on this matter.
Well I’m certainly not lauding Benji as a hero.
I am basing my comments/opinions on the facts as reported, and if correct, show Nofa as not the sort of player I’d want to coach nor play with.
If there is another side to the story I’ll happily react accordingly.
And lets not forget that Benji hasn’t really achieved anything so far, the time for a review of his actions will come down the track.

There is a high chance that this claim is BS. However, there is a small chance that it's not (or part of it is not) so I'm just asking everyone to I guess choose their words wisely.

It's a little grey, let's not make it completely black and white. Big chance that we will never know the truth anyway

If he adhered to the training regime, got very fit and met the required standards, and was the most appropriate choice compared to other players in his position, and he wanted to play for the team ! I would definitely pick him.

Sorry mate, it’s all hearsay. I’m not going to start piling on him just because there is an article on it. The same kind of article btw that many have claimed in the past has proved the media has an agenda and uses their position to try and destabilise the club.
I assume you need extra layers of tin foil in the attic....

Nofa's team leaked the article dopey!!

That is why Sia Soliola from the RLPA were there for a photo op today!

You can‘t fire a player for breach of contract if they have done nothing wrong. No matter how much you hate them.
Is refusing a reasonable request to train, as a professional footballer, grounds for firing, or is that a legal argument given he is saying he’s been unfairly treated.
I hope the Tiger coaching staff is carefully noting all training requests to both him and other players, coz if this is in fact true, there will be a shit storm down the line.

Another interesting thing is that he's gone to RLPA rather than NRL. RLPA has power but as far as I'm aware, doesn't really have any official role. If you want to officially lodge a complaint, surely you go to the NRL?
The RLPA is the player's union.....

The NRL doesn't have any jurisdiction to interfere with internal club workplace disputes - that is LITERALLY what the RLPA is there for!

This is NOT an Integrity Unit matter - it is an industrial dispute!

FMD!

Only for a photo op ...

After his photo shoot with the RLPA rep Soliola...

Probably wore that towel on his shoulder the whole session and wouldn't have got a single drop of sweat on it.

Fancy espousing the professionalism of the Melbourne system and then when the coach tries to emulate that by expecting his squad to put in during preseason training you whinge about it.

Yep saw that and spoke to Nofa. If a complaint is made by a player about ill treatment it stands to reason that the players association would have a duty of care for ensuring that the entire playing group were aware of what is appropriate in terms of acceptable training standards and what is not. Too much of a coincidence that they just turned up today when he was due back at training after lodging a complaint. My read only - but that's the way I see it.
I suppose the real test is if the RLPA are going around and addressing all the clubs and I don't know if they are or are not.

A little bit suspect if this was only happening at Wests Tigers.

Half of those tries were ‘catch n walk’ to the line.
Whichever way you look at it, I think Nofa wearing his heart on his sleeve isn’t our real problem. I would much prefer 17 players had an open honest approach instead of sulking privately.
Before the Penrith game Benji had one on ones with both Nofa and Brooks. The team looked like a top 8 squad over the next 4 games. The only other win was a 1 pointer over a reserve grade Dolphins.
So what happened?
There are possibly one or more positionally influential people in the organisation busily building speed bumps to progress, is my guess?
Man if 2 players can affect outcomes so much , and if the team has been losing for soo long , wouldn’t you then reasonably deduce that those 2 players are a negative effect on the team .
I don’t know how you can make the argument you’re making mate . A switched on Nofa and Brooks , could have lead us to the promised land … I mean sure , why not ? But if you can only switch on for 6 games a year , is that a good thing at all ?
The guy just has never figured out how consistently play at a minimum 6 out of 10 . He doesn’t need to be perfect every game . At 30 years of age , and the fact there’s hungrier , smarter faster , fitter , and quite honestly better humans coming through the grades , I can’t see how he can justify being unfit and lazy . No amount of pumping his own tyres can pull you away from that . He doesn’t have it or want it anymore , and needs a weapon team to have any chance of even being a full time first grader . Unfortunately those weapon teams just are indifferent about David Nofaluma . If I was him , I’d honestly be looking real hard at SL and trying to push my career out to my mid 30s.
Because I’ve said it before , if a team offers him anything above a train and trial in the nrl , I’d be gobsmacked .

There's people on here who would defend alleged rapists and wife beaters by saying "let see what the courts have to say" or "let's wait for the full story". When it's something like this they are ready for the player to be sacked, hanged, drawn and quartered. Basing their opinions off a dodgy media and zero facts.

Thats such a straw man argument . How do you know the same people have the same opinions . And of what percentage is what you just said true .
Not to mention they’re 2 completely different issues .
I personally don’t want rapists and wife bearers in the club , but pragmatically , none of that has anything to do with football .
When you’re talking about football , one thing is basically a no no , and the other is irrelevant .
Should people like Matt lodge have been reinstated .. No that’s bullshit . He never served his time . But should someone like a Russel Packer or even a Xerri , Bec allowed back . Why not ? They served thier time .
It still has nothing to do with whether or not you can rely on the guy next to you on the football field . Would you leave them alone with your wife or kids . No way .. but that’s not really relevant to 5 tackles and a kick.
It’s like being in the trenches with someone who beat beat his missus . Is it heinous ? Would you hang out with him? Probably not . But does it affect in anyway shape or form his ability to perform his job and function to which your both there for . It’s that much a not applicable it wouldn’t even have been thought of much less talked about .

No, it’s cause he’s shit. What’s so confusing about this concept??? I assume people post on a WT forum cause they like the club. If a player is taking away from your 80 minutes a week enjoyment from the club you want them gone. Nothing to do with Noffa as a person.

Api could break could sneak100 ladies into a covid bubble and I’d still want him to suit up the following weekend.

There's some seriously personal attacks and characterisations of him over the last few pages for it being "nothing to do with Noffa as a person".

It was a generalisation and loose comparison. I won't get into the debate about whether people charged with serious crimes should be playing NRL. That would be straw maning. Just pointing out that there is a bit of irony in the level of venom and vitriol directed towards Nofa (much of it personal) over the last few pages.

I genuinely wonder whether people like you and GNR have been dropped on your heads at some point to act so obtuse. Either you are somehow related to or a friend of Nofo because that’s the only other way to explain why someone would be stupid enough to take up for this club cancer.

This is not the first, second or even third story to come out about this clowns professionalism, or lack of it. Blaming teammates on social media for his terrible defence, taking shots at the club while in Melbourne, telling Benji he needs to earn players respect when he came back to the tigers….

This is all pretty public information, a lot of which has come directly from this idiots mouth over the last 3-5 years. Wake the hell up!
