David Nofoaluma #164

Nice.

I trust Richo has all his ducks lined up with Nofo. I’m sure he has done this before and knows how to get rid of a player effectively. Sounds like Nofo played the game and stuffed up. Hoping for a super quick resolution.

i mentioned in another thread that benji was very clear with nofo around where he stood with the club and he would likely not play first grade again with the club and he is free to leave

the reported 300k is correct, the relationship between nofa and the senior playing group and staff is nearly untenable

super league clubs happy to take him, but wants to stay in the nrl

the news has been leaked via davids manager
I hope the club didn't state it this way. If he was good enough and had the right attitude, he could play first grade. You can't just put a line through him like that.

Like, "If you keep going how you're going David, you won't see first grade again". That would be fine.

I hope they did. Otherwise, David would have something to argue.

Either way, he now needs to go. He needs to take one of those SL contracts. No NRL club is going to pick him up for a reasonable price.

This one isn't on the club at all.
Not fully true.
He has been shopped around for a couple of years now and had some bites but the club wouldn’t wear the amount of his contract we’d have to pay so scuttled negotiations.
Our club designed his contract. Our club has poorly handled his exit. He has reacted terribly, however our man management certainly played its part.

While true he’s also berated his teammates online when he’s at fault, complains that’s he’s been treated unfairly and targeted yet refuses to train or at least set to achieve the new standards set by the club, and overall has become so toxic that by the sound of things, no one at the club can’t stand him anymore. Regardless of the achievement, majority of the Tigers fan base will not even care what he achieved given what he has become. He has no one to blame but himself for his downfall.
known to dog the younger/developing players too.

Yes agreed.
You need to be careful when moving employees on.
Offering 30 cents on the dollar has escalated things. It will be interesting to see if the club covered its arse or whether it will have to pay. I hope this doesn’t drag on too long.

i reckon they’ve calculated that’s his worth because there’s no takers in the NRL. Ie if he thinks he’s worth 350k a year to play somewhere else then take our 150 top up.

My reaction to this story is sadness !
In 2020 he was not only one of 2 Dally M wingers for the year but voted WT player of the year and now 3 and a bit years later he is in the pits
Regardless of his form or bad attitude it is obvious that he is surplus to the clubs needs with so many wingers to choose from .
He is simply not needed and club wants to avoid paying him his contracted amount and like most businesses will use " breach of contract " clauses to achieve this .
I wonder if any other player from the 30 -40 who have to train have been late or missed training in the last few months.
I hope he goes and gets a better offer than 28.6 % of his contract .Staying seems impossible as the atmosphere is now poisonous .
Mind you I have no idea who's fault this is ? Maybe his? I'm not a mind reader nor do I listen in to inner conversations within the club .
I think most employees would be unhappy if told your sacked and you lose $750 k
Impossible he stays and hope he lands on his feet somewhere .
One thing I noted last 2 years is being a WT winger is a hopeless job as the ball never reaches the wingers in attack and they mainly get the ball catching bombs 10m out from our own line and are expected to do hit ups out of defence .We also have had weak centers .I wonder how would Alex Johnson at Souths who constantly gets put into space and scores many tries as such would go if he was a WT winger ?

Im assuming the club has a a ton of documentation that backs them up before they have gone this route. They've done a fair bit to finally have a bit of goodwill with the fans. They're not just gonna throw this out the haphazardly.

Im also sure the documentation stretches back further than the most recent preseason. I'm sure they have documentation that stretches to atleast covid times that show this has become a long time issue.

That's within 12 months though??

Yes sad such a player yet again has turned into a rotten egg... The culture and history at this place is very very poor

I'm not sure hell find a nrl. Club unless it costs us big time... Just another in a long line of embecilic decisions from he who wore the embecilic hats
He has had 3 notices this preseason including this one.
