I don't think this is true. You can't have guys up on rape charges playing NRL. You just can't do it.

We all do the wrong thing but having sex like he did in my opinion is pretty out there.

If he gets acquitted he has lost 3 years of prime first grade. I would sue the nrl for lost income.
If he is found guilty then punish.
If I'm awaiting trial and on bail, I would be working.
Bringing the game into disrepute is just fluff.

Okay cool let's just let a guy with that hanging over his head continue playing in the NRL. I'm sure that will go over well with a lot of people. No way would anyone walk away from the game in that situation.

Who's to say how it would affect him. If he knew he was innocent then it might not bother him. The nrl is not the criminal court, that's all I'm saying. How can you punish someone for allegedly doing something?

They are protecting a brand which draws its own revenue and income. Are they not entitled to protect the brand which supports every other player in the league?

In most cases it has to be unanimous, meaning everyone needs to agree on the decision. In DeBelin's case when the Jury stated they couldn't reach a decision the Judge offered to accept an 11-1 majority but they were still unable to reach a decision.

It requires a unanimous verdict, so a hung jury can be 10-2 or 6-6 or 5-7 for example. There is provision for what is called a "majority verdict", but that only becomes available after at least 8 hours of deliberation and a judge does not always give a majority verdict direction. A "majority verdict" allows for 11-1 (in a jury of 12).

Correct, a majority verdict direction was given in DeBelin's case and the judge was willing to accept an 11-1 decision but that couldn't be reached either..

One person with a grudge (personal experience) stopped the acquittal of the accused in the only jury I have sat on.

They were ready to find the accused guilty and send him up the river on really flimsy evidence just because they didn't like the look of him.

I was on a jury for sexual assault and one of the male jurors had already decided the defendant was innocent because he didnt look the type(clean cut business type).Fortunately we were discharged on the 2nd day because a female juror didnt turn up.The judge decided to empannel another 12 people to hear the case.

To the best of my knowledge the first thing the alleged victim in this case did was send a message asking for "HELP", literally, upon both of the accused leaving her. Such does not occur after consensual or non-violent encounters for mine.

I don't know the details of the case, that's not what I'm against. If he is guilty, throw the book at him, never play nrl again, go to jail, do not collect $200.
I'm against the Nrl trying to be the justice system.
It's tyrannical and injust.

I don't get to decide whether the guy is guilty or not, but the odds of finding a woman that he said was acting "weird" after he ***** her ****** and **** and left a mess on her back, with his mate also joining in, had wanted everything that got things to that point and feeling like she had been ***** (and that she said "no" in sworn testimony), are very long.

The description I read a little while back of her being used as a ******** seemed pretty appropriate to me. I expect that just like the Hayne case it is a majority decision of guilty, but as it is not unanimous there will be a retrial of both. Neither case has put forward that the alleged victim said "yes", nor was asked.

Clearly they need some law changes the system stinks, I think only recently they’ve put things in place to protect victim privacy/well being and not making them attend court and other stuff.
