Departing Woods' final words

Skipper Woods says the Tigers will be competitive in 2018, coach Ivan Cleary's first full season with the rebuilding club.

"I think they'll be a real strong club next year, they've signed a fair few players. They're going to be very competitive," Woods told the Big Sports Breakfast on Wednesday.

The front-rower said the Tigers' defence had improved leaps and bounds since Clearly replaced Jason Taylor early this season.

"It's been a big change, but I think it's a good change for the club," he said.

Woods will line up for the Tigers for the 146th and final time on Sunday night at Leichhardt Oval against the Warriors.

The NSW prop said he was excited about joining the Bulldogs after becoming "part of the furniture" at the Tigers and admitted he was guilty of sometimes just "going by" at training.

How many more times are we going to hear this from departing players?

Just confirms how fortunate the club is they are moving on…. also shows they don't know the meaning of humility

As good as Woods has been for Wests Tigers over the last couple of years his actions and comments have left a sour taste in most supporters opinions of Woods.

Like him as a player and wish him all the best for the rest of his career with the dogs, NSW and Australia.

Not that it should matter but wish he got himself a hair cut. Still can't understand the man bun.

Wonder if he still plans on running the club down in the off season as he alluded to planning on doing a couple months back. Would be idiotic considering what awaits him in 2018.

if they do a celebratory departure lap, i'll be back turned.

I dont think it'd be wise.
Best if they get the hell out ASAP

They probably will walk a lap if they win, and maybe even if they lose.

The majority of fans at the game will still applaud them.

The worst captain in any sporting team that I've ever seen and one of the most overrated forwards by rep team selectors in the game. Most fans don't rate him.

He is so dumb though and I nearly feel sorry for the guy because he keeps putting his foot in it. Why couldn't he just state "I think they'll go great next year and I wish them the best" and then shut his peep hole. I honestly don't think that he is trying to be such a moron.

I don't wish him luck. I hope he fails at Canterbury and the fans turn on him.
