Whilst Benji has been down on form compared to previous years I think we all need to look at the bigger picture that is support players.
The tigers game plan and team were all sub par this year. Comapring Benji to Cronk, Slater and Smith is tough given that there is 3 of the best 5 players in the world on the one team that has such a good stratergy and all the surrounding players do their bit, they can simply share the load of making a big play. At the tigers and especially last season this all appeared to rest on Benji or Robbies shoulders and neither seemed to get much support.
a few key points
1 - He needs more room to move and should be playing 5/8 that extra space from the ruck would give him more time and more opportunity.
2- Benji needs support from other players. When Benji was going well a few years ago we had a good halfback, Fullback and centres all perfoming well. This year these postions were not performing.
3-Benji was destructive in attack because it was left field. They played such a good style of football with set moves, decoys and options that he could make that last minute split decission and the opposition had no idea what was going on due to the decoys and options he had around him. This year they all just stood still and passed like you see in U/7\. No structre and no set moves.
If the new coach plays players in the correct position, structres there game plan, the forwards aim up and the backs run good solid lines Benji will be back in the top 5\. the only question is will the new coach be able to get all these things to align and how long will it take?
