Did Taylor deserve the right to go out with his best 17

Why use Ballin as a good example?

If anything its perhaps part of the reason he is not here.

Pushed out Farah, for a guy that has not played in 2 years.

3 Rounds was very hasty, however the circumstances around things conspired against him.

Flogged in 4 of our past 6 games wasn't the best look.
 
I think what killed Taylor was the fact the whole three grades had been smashed two weeks in a row. It was not like it was just the top grade that were well off the pace. Anyway I still maintain nothing will change to we can assemble a squad of players capable of playing and combating the power game that so many teams now use. Cleary or who ever will struggle to achieve anything without a massive overhaul of our playing roster

I had to console my friend yesterday. He was whinging about Farah going sideways out of dummy half and putting the ball runner under pressure, and killing momentum. This same bloke was telling me all off season watch Farah in a "good side".
It took a while to calm him down because me and another tigers fan there spent the next 5 minutes after his whinge laughing uncontrollably.

He did deserve the respect and performance ability of the players,irrespective if we or the players didn't like him,the players are paid to PLAY not consort and hold the club to ransom as apparently they have..

Really…Which players..? I cant see the likes of Elijah Taylor Chris Lawrence James Tedesco Matt Ballin or Tim Grant consorting against Taylor..even the under performers would be pretty thick to do so considering it was Taylor who kept picking them every week...With a new Coach they have absolutely no job security now or if they will be even offered contracts...

This was a board decision who have obviously changed their views that Taylor was the right Coach to take the Club forward..

The board should have realised after the last game of last year that he wasn't the right man for the job..why give him the whole preseason and 3 games before they sack him….He had to pick the same under performers each week,he had little else to pick from...everyone is entitled to their view,you and I are no different,just that mine is of little importance in the scheme of things....
 
I supported JT and I think he's done his best for the club. Contrary to what people say about him I actually think he's acted fairly in how he's dealt with the dramas at the club last couple of years.
However… his time had come. I don't think JT was ever going to coach us to a premiership and it was only a matter of time as to when we get a new coach.
Whilst it seems the board acted prematurely, the fact we've been flogged in all grades and the current situation with the 'Big 4' the sooner we get someone else in as coach the better.
He has ample time to salvage this season and determine who he wants for 2018 and beyond.

I think your right GNR , but we were stuck with our No 3 and 4 hooker

Ballin would of helped our defence , and playing off the back of Liddle's speed would of really helped Brooks and Moses and given them more time

Not saying we would of won the Penrith or Canberra games , but it would of changed the way we played especially with us being able to apply massive pressure to tiring opposition forward pack in the last 10 of the first half (given the fact we were still in the game at this point both weeks )

But as Ink said we needed to make a decision what direction we would take in 2018

Be interesting to see what direction Webster will take us in 2017 , I get the feeling he will follow Taylor's plans with his own spin on things

Taylor had the right ideas but neither he or the team could implement them

If not picking what you consider is the best 17 is reason to sack a coach, you've got a lifetime of hate ahead of you.
 
What disappoints me if she was appointed just to have a woman on the board. Does it really progress the cause of women if they have no interest in the "product" and it's culture and so are turned against to an extent?

I am only assuming from posts on this board that this may be the case.

I supported Taylor, but the last 2 weeks bench rotation lost me completely. To go into those games without a recognised front rower on the bench was absolute madness.

He'd probably didnt deserve to go but he had to go. We couldnt just do nothing after that start to the season with better coaches waiting around for a job. Thats footy.

Neither Go or Pascoe pulled the trigger, they were just the messengers - it was the majority Wests board members who dumped him.
 
It has only just dawned on my how difficult the first 6 weeks of our draw is…
Rabbitohs - easier game
Panthers - premiership favourites at start of season
Raiders - 2016 top 4
Storm - 2016 grand finalists
Dragons - easier game
Cowboys - 2016 top 4

Now I know that there are no "easy" games in the NRL, but I'd classify Rabbitohs/Dragons as easier games as they weren't premiership contenders in anyone's predictions for this year.

The other 4 games make for a tough start to the year. Whilst I'm happy the club has moved on from Taylor, I don't think any coach would get us more than 2-3 wins in those first 6 weeks.
 
Who's to say he would have picked the best 17 anyway? Taylor's idea of a bench consisted of two back rowers, an unfit centre and the reserve grade halfback.
