The mistake you are making is assuming there is some sort of professionalism involved on the Tigers end.

Considering we still have 4 games left in season 2024, it is already heads, shoulders, knees and toes our worst of the three years.
15 sinbins, 25 guilty verdicts at the judiciary, $25,650 in fines and 17 weeks of suspension are all higher than '22 & '23 combined for each category. We only require 4 more guys put on report and it will be the same.

Jeezus they are damning stats. Personally I think it all-of-the-above ... increased focus on hip drop tackles (maybe we are not coached well enough in this area???), unconcious bias of officials, losing the yardage battle nearly every game meaning we're on the backfoot & all leads to frustration all then onto poor discipline.

1 if we can focus on winning the yardage battle in '25, this will help & we need someone in our organisation with a bit of clout to support Richo in tearing the NRL a new one. That is why I'd do whatever I could to get John Coates on the board. Love him or hate him, he knows how to get political shit done.

How come Casey Badger wasn’t sacked for refereeing our team considering her husband used to be on the coaching staff. Was there always a conflict there that wasn’t addressed until he pops up in the Souths Coaching box. I suppose that extends to the bunker as well. Will this apply for as long as Gavin is contracted to Souths? Is this a leg up, having one less referee available, makes for more consistent rulings for Souths or am I reading into this too far.

Reminds me of when kids are spoiled, allowed to run riot at home and do whatever they like dues to a lack of discipline. These kids are always in trouble at school and on the streets with the cops.
By all reports it seems quite cushy at kamp koncord.
We even heard Galvin tell the Fox journos "Benji let's them have fun at training"
Maybe we've gone from too tough on them under Madge to "nice and easy does it" with the young kids under Benji.... If true I hope the coaching staff ramp it up a fair bit this off season as the young blokes mature, get bigger stronger and be able to handle.it all a lot more and a lot tougher.
I may however be way off the mark.and have a bunch.of dopes in the squad.

We are victims/culprits of 'sensational penalties'. Our overall discipline in games is no worse than a few teams- but for suspendable/sin bin type offences, we are out of control.

I'd suggest our lack of ability to control the speed of play is responsible for the high number of hip drop type penalties we get. We seem unable to put players on the ground the same way other clubs can & to get the ball carrier down, we see our guys coming in from behind using this technique. Something as simple as better strength/wrestle training might help.

Well said.

Gotta think about what we can control, and we can't control the NRL. Richo and co can try to influence but the major reason isn't NRL or refs.

To me, it is a combination of lack of fitness, lack of game awareness and lack of experience that's contributing.

You gave a good example regarding hip drop, and in the same way, professional fouls are usually because we are on the backfoot so are looking for the easy way out. High tackles are usually when defending for long minutes and just not getting down low enough (I also think we have the tallest forward line in the comp).

We need to have the toughest pre season any of these guys have ever known, and those who moan about it can be shipped off.

What stands out is that 90% of the time we've been placed on report weve been charged and found guilty
In almost every game the ref crosses his arms putting someone on report about 5 times a game but many are not actually charged. I bet no one else even approaches 90 % ?

Quite a few have more charges than times put on report. We sit 10th.

Ive just shown that we were one of the better teams for discipline last year.
This year we are in a tight competition for the worst.
There is no favouritism, we are not being picked on, we are not being made an example of...ITS ON US.

There is ample evidence that refs are more reluctant to dismiss a player (bin or otherwise ) in a significant game. Look at the backlash when they did it in origin 1 and the reluctance for the rest of the series.

Until we play in games considered significant we’ll keep copping the same fate. Refs getting their quotas up.

I often feel like we're penalised for coming last.

Look at the Cowboys game as an example. The Papalii knock on, not a single Cowboy was onside. Yet at the other end of the field, a review gets sent up with an offside penalty before even being looked at. Api being clearly obstructed but it being deemed to not impact the play. The Olam send off...

Not saying discipline isn't an issue, but I do think we're copping penalties for things the top sides get away with, and it's very rare that a 50/50 goes our way...

We're being refereed in conjunction with our position on the ladder. It's the way it always has been and most likely always will be in the NRL.

I don't remember us winning too many penalty counts last year nor a lot of 50/50s going our way either...

This year is worse than last year, but I think we've been far more competitive this year than we were last year which makes the dud calls feel a lot more frustrating.

Its important to look into thngs. Our discipline was great last year we had a low level of judiciary problems and we won the penalty counts most weekends.
It aint the referees fault.

This year is worse than last year, but I think we've been far more competitive this year than we were last year which makes the dud calls feel a lot more frustrating.

Our inability to win games we should have won, were important factors of both seasons. Our halves and spine in general, did not convert enough opportunities into points in either year. Our defence was shocking in both.
