Djokovic is an idiot isn't up for debate here. The issue is the reputation it creates internationally.

Australia comes across very poorly in the global light due to this stuff-up.

The arrogance of some is simply mind blowing.

One of the ones that blew me away was a Serbian Government member or official stating that Novax was not just any ordinary Serbian Citizen, that he had some sort of Diplomatic Immunity and that he could not be stopped from entering Australia.

Maybe it lost something in the translation but that one did it for me.

Yes it certainly does make Australia comes across very poorly and just makes you wonder how it has been allowed to get to this point.

Stupid of him to not take the vaccine, but would be farcical to kick him out now.

If he's already been infected he's less likely to catch a virus than people who were vaxxed 6+ months ago and haven't yet had a booster. We're already copping 100,000+ cases a day in the country so just don't see any legitimate public health reason to punt him now. While it shouldn't be seen as condoning anti-vaxxers, at the same time, seems illogical to try and make a point of someone who's unvaccinated for the sake of them being unvaccinated (as opposed to for them presenting a genuine health concern). While the special treatment may appear bad, we were also letting celebrities and cricketers travel in the country while others couldn't over the past year/2 years so it's not like he's the first case.

I think he should be sent home. Why we would allow anyone into Australia who isn't vaccinated who isn't Australian.

The government and Tennis Australia completely stuffed this though.

I don't think he is any risk to society though. I think he is as safe as anyone who is vaccinated because he has had it twice.

I don't like elites getting special treatment. All those other tennis players do the right thing.
