DO NOT take this game lightly

Consider this an altenative stream of discussion to AmericanHistoryX's thread - ["New Zealand No Worries"](http://www.weststigersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=10046) It's no slight on his opinion, and infact I do agree with the majority of that threads sentiment, however in the spirit of good healthy discussion, I pose this avenue of thought.

I am concerned about this game a little - Granted many of you know me on here as a pretty rose tinted, one-eyed tigers fan - always looking for the positive - however, occasionally games give me the wobbles - and this is one of them.

This is an important game. Period. We **CANNOT** take it lightly.

No matter what happens, the boys need to keep going at the Warriors.

If we are up 34-0 at Halftime or down 34-0 at halftime, they need to keep going hard, fast line speed, in the warrior faces. We give them a sniff, and they will keep hitting.

Beau Ryan will need another performance like his last one again Vatuvei.

The Warriors have been crapola recently, but they have had games this year where everything just works -

This is the mob who toweled up a bunnies side 48-16 which had led our boys 27-0 at half time a couple of weeks previous, and who accounted for Melbourne early in the year in a grinding defensive game.

This is what we need to do:

* Up in the face of Johnson and Maloney. Johnson will crack under pressure - mark my words - much like soward did on Friday night. Maloney wont, but rush his kicks, and passing options, and just watch as it all starts to unravel. He doesn't have a natural broken play running game like Marshall does.

* First player in on Meteo - ATTACK THE BALL! I can't believe so many other teams do not do this! We got beaten 22-6 by a Parramatta outfit who got under our skin by hitting our boys will several one on one strips. IF we attack Meteo's arm carrying the ball with the first bloke in on EVERY tackle, it will force him to change up his game. The refs will ping him for a bad carry in tackles, because he does have a bad carry - plain and simple.

* Bombs - Its all the warriors will have after a while. After a few dodgy kicks from Maloney, look for Johnson and Lock to start bombing for the wingers. Granted we are weak when it come to bombs, however as long as we at least CHALLENGE for them, and then get numbers behind the ball we should get out ok - the warriors have just as much chance of spilling bombs as we do. If this means Utai gets dropped to 18th man, then so be it.

* Kick away from Locke -IMHO a much better broken play runner than he is given credit for. Kick to Vatuvei, and get the likes of Mitch Brown, Blake Ayshford, and Beau Ryan, bearing down on him at a million miles an hour. They mightn't be able to take him one on one, but you get Brown there first, and then Ayshrord, then Ryan and all of a sudden Vatuvei isn't going anywhere.

* Attack their fringes, but bring the ball back inside. Their lateral defense is pretty bad. Marshall should have a field day loking for line runners, and Liam Fulton should be ready to score a hat-trick.

* Farah should be watching the likes of Mautalino, and Packer around the ruck. towards the back end of each half, their will be gaps there - particularly Packer.

* Do it for 80 minutes. This is key.

DO all this, and I predict a healthy victory.

Come in expecting to win, and 2011 becomes another one of those years we say, "IF Only we didn't have injuries, refs against us, etc.."

Towel these pretenders up guys. But do it right. :sign:

Well said. Like you, I worry about the "bounce back" from the Warriors and we need to attack this game with an A1 attitude. If we start thinking about Melbourne, this game is gone.

The coaching staff will have them coming in with the right strategy and attitude. Sheen's will not let them forget the first half of friday night, or the close calls we've had against the warriors in the recent past. Their heads will be screwed on, and they'll look to execute better from the get-go.

Good Post and true but I'm sure nobody will take the Warriors easy. This time of year needs 100% application and even then you need a bit of luck. Go Tiges!

Easy win will win by 30+ where to good!!

Agreed.

The only thing stopping us from winning is if we don't turn up. We can only beat ourselves, the Warriors cannot beat us. Defensively they are very vulnerable and coming up against a team like the us… Marshall and Lui will have a field day out wide and Farah will catch them around the ruck...

This definitely doesn't mean you underestimate the Warriors, but we are a better side and should win.

I am more concerned by the Warriors than the Storm.

Mateo seems to save his best for us. Johnson and Locke have blinding speed. Need to be on our game, get ahead early and put pressure on them. If we can do that, their heads will go down.

Having said what I said - I have every confidence the boys will show up on Friday, and assumed they will do what I said above - I've tipped them by 41-8 in the predictions thread…

I don't think it's possible to take a team lightly in finals footy. We might not be able to play to our gameplan, but I don't expect an ounce of complacency.

To faulter now is just not good enough and I think that is exactly what the players will be thinking. To have gone through all that mid season garbage of rumour and innuendo and then to ban together as a playing unit and win these games to get this close, they will see failure as not being an option. Sheens is the type of coach that will have them focussed on the job at hand and stay focused for the full 80\. I think we'll see a tradesman like approach with Marshall paceing himself beautifully and Farrah directing a lot of the play. hard game to pick. Warriors deserve to be there also and have played well enough this year not to have tweo shockers in a row. Watch for the beast to get as much ball as possible. I think this will be a bigger block buster than the Tigers V Dragons game was billed to be.

Top post UD.

They won't underestimate the Warriors, of this I am certain. Vatuvei for one will be hurting from last weeks performance and will be better for the run. They had everything go wrong for them against Brisbane. They couldn't hold on to the pill, passes wouldn't stick, they couldn't diffuse bombs, and I expect a vastly different mentality from them this weekend. They're also a couple of men down with Mannering et. al out and that's what worries me the most, we always seem to get caught out by an understrength side.

Like most here i agree this is a tough encounter. The tigers have produced terrible starts against both sharks and dragons in recent weeks. The warriors are a team who can throw 30 points on us if we play as bad as we have in the first 40 mins again. If we play with solid defense and smart attacking options then no team should beat us. Failure to do this i think the warriors will be hard to run down if they run capitolise on poor options both attack and defense in the second half of the game. In saying this i think the boys are on track to win the next three. As i can see the pure passion within each player week after week.

Will be at the game. See all you guys there cheering on the boys!!

An interesting read your're not far off actually bang on with a lot of things.

I don't think that the Warriors can put in 2 performances in a row like on Saturday night. Based on that I think that we need to be on our game and not give them a sniff. Go hard from the 1st minute and never let up!

If their passes stick for 80 minutes we're in big trouble, but if they aren't sticking, they'll be cannon fodder. If we turn it on and bring our A-game, they won't worry us.

We can force their hand though. Our boys are good enough to make them change their game without changin our own. :sign:

One thing about Sheens you can't complain about.., he always has his teams up for semis and finals.

During the year i'd consider this a 50/50 match but in a final, in Sheens i trust.

At this time of the year, every game could be your last and their is the motivation. Pretty simple stuff getting your self up for a chance to play another week. Of course the same apply s to the other mob. Really all games from here on in are a fifty fifty bet. Anyone who thinks this game is in the bank needs to see a shrink, the warriors are one side that can make any team look silly.
