Do you approach NRL players when you see them in person?

I saw Twal on Majors Bay Rd the other week and it got me thinking about whether or not to approach players. They must be sick of all the attention they get when out in public. I couldn't help myself and shouted out Legend as I drove past him.

Probably not since COVID. Seen Farah around Five Dock and Drummoyne a couple of times and just given him a nod and he nods back.

No generally try to leave them alone. i’ve seen DCE around my area with his young family teaching his daughter to ride a bike. gave them space by getting my dog out of the way.
I did approached beau ryan & Hinno when they moved to the Sharks. They were sitting next to me at breakfast at a hotel in Canberra. Had a chat, they were good to talk to.

depends on who and when I see them. If at a function/event or at a game and they are not in the middle of something yep I will say a brief helLo.

if in public maybe a nod, but won’t approach them.

pre covid I’d see a lot of the dragons players out and about, chatted to some of them but yeah didn’t go out of my way. The weirdest encounter was seeing Dugan and De Belin out on the piss. Dugan is as big a tool as he looks

Zac Lomax lived a few houses up from me until a few months ago, so did talk to him a bit also

I stood next to Sam Kasiano in the Tab once. Couldn’t get over how small he looked. He was my height and didn’t look that jacked at all.

Depends on the situation. I’ve met a few players as I know family members or friends. Of course will talk with them in social situations like that. If they are just out with there mates or family just leave them be.

It's the other way for me.
Whenever they see me they come running across the street waving their hands above their heads screaming, 'Cobar, Cobar'
It's so embarrassing and it gets tiresome sometimes.

depends on the situation and who the player is. Josh Kerr from the dragons is a deadset legend and has time for literally anyone. other blokes will spot you and run the other way. thats what happened with my most recent encounter with our own Jackson Hastings at Pepe's in Wollongong about 4 years ago after a few sherbets. let's hope the next encounter is different.

Luke Brooks recognised me at a fan day one year early in his career, from when I used to take the young fella to RE touch comp they both played in many years back... Was a bit strange Tbh

Saw a lot of dogs players at the races one day I made it my mission to annoy the hell out of Greg Eastwood.... Asking him between every race "watcha backing"

My mate is a former 1st grade captain, recently retired.

He is the nicest guy but the general public take advantage and they all think they know him cause he a household name.

Leave em alone when u see em at woolies
