Do you think Sheens realises how tragic our situation is?

Just think about this: The nucleus of our team, which is really the grand final guys (Benji, Robbie, Heghno, Payten, Halatau, Gibbs) plus the guys who came into prominence in '06 (Lawrence, Collis, Tuiaki, Galloway) have now missed out on finals football four FOUR CONSECUTIVE SEASONS. Some players don't even last four years in their careers, but these guys have all been together for that period of time and have not been in the finals once during it.

I have to say it really makes me sad thinking about this. I remember being excited after '05 that we had so much to look forward to 'cause the side was still so young. Well, they ain't so young anymore and with the way players move around these days who knows how much longer all of them will be together? Never could I have dreamed of the possibility that '05 would be all we'd get from them as far as the finals go, but now I feel that it's very possible.

How many of them will still be on the team come 2013? Three, four maybe? These guys are in the primes of their careers and their primes are being wasted by missing the finals every year. And what makes it even more frustrating is that we all love cheering for these guys. We don't have any jerks like Ennis or Hodges or grubs like Slater on our team. I want these guys to succeed not just because they play for my team but because they all seem to be good blokes.

Can't think of anything else to add, except that somehow I feel more depressed about our missing out again today than I did on Saturday night.

Well put!
Iagree wholeheartedly..

could it be a factor, that at the early stages of there careers, they have already won a grand final ?
or just simply its not wests-tigers time to shine again, as the team has not found the required balance of players !! 😛ray:
I wish I had the answers, because like you all, not impressed about missing finals . again.
seething with anger and frustration, actually. :imp: :smiling_imp:

I think that may be the case.

And CT do us a favour and tell him yourself the next time you are following around the players like a lost boy.I doubt you would have the guts to say it to him directly.

Oh goody another Sheens is a goose thread….I'm coming around....

I can think of one positive we have more players in our side that have won a premiership than St George, Cronulla,Souths, Panthers, Rorters, Penrith,Canberra, North Queensland, Parramatta, Titans, Scumdogs, Warriors, Broncos and I think Melbourne.....All except the Manly Scum.....

Shame Sheens can't get them to there......

I know the Sharks are in a lot worse situation than us, but you see Ricky Stuart after the games, and he's always emotional and apologises to the fans and calls on them to come to the next home match etc etc.

After a loss Sheens is way too political and takes the "we'll just look forward to next week to fix our problems" stance.

I think he knows how disappointed the fans are.

But come on a "tragic situation"

Yea, that is a bit harsh. It is not like we are in the bottom 3 every season. That would be a "tragic situation."

I am not disappointed at all. Over the past 4 seasons the biggest margin we have missed that 8 is 2 wins. That is a small margin for error and under the salary cap, an injury here or there can easily blow you out of the water. We have always been alive coming into the last or second last round - that is fine with me.

Yes, I do think he realises how bad the situtation is.
But I don't think it's his fault.
It's Noyce's fault. He screwed us on the cap meaning that we've been unable to go out and buy good players.
Now, in all fairness, this was in part forced by our previous poor form, meaning that he HAD to pay overs for average players.

I suspect that as our cap starts easing off, we'll start buying good players to fit into the good juniors that we already have in our squad.
