Dogs need to trade

I'm a fan of Moses Mbye and the bloke is a sensational goal kicker

I'm not a fan of Mbye, I think he gets found out a lot. And anyway, unfortunately he's the kind of player we already have - low-structure attacking weapon.

Force Mbye to direct traffic, develop sets, get repeats, take calm options and his game goes to water.

It's the same reason why I would not discard Brooks (as rumour may have it, to the Dogs) or ride his performance too hard, which lots of fans are starting to do, because he has the fundamentals of being able to really steer the ship; he just hasn't put it all together consistently yet. Unfortunately because Moses has accelerated the last 6 months (and debuted later), people are heaping pressure on Brooks to show that same trajectory of development.

I don't want him here , but I'm surprised the Dogs have given up on him so quickly that's all

I reckon Dogs tend to do that. They expect fast results, I can't recall a recent slow-burner player that they've held onto who gradually matured. Not exactly a patient club in my mind.

They've basically ruined Lichaa this year, he was the NYC hooker of the year twice after all so there must be something to his game. But after one bad year, they are looking to get rid of him.

The bad call was getting rid of hodgo….then no kicker. Reynolds and maybe are runner and mochas can't kick....not great planning from a club that spends greatest amount on coaching staff.

I agree that brooks is developing ok, and wouldn't trade brooks just putting it out there for those who don't agree. The dogs unless they trade des is gone, brooks is a player that has currency with them given their structure. We hold cards 2017 but none in 2018\. For those who want to punt brooks, who from the dogs would have greatest impact on our team. Moses can run show with a defensive running 5/8 (maybe even Lawrence) or rankin.

maybe….but the model of two highly paid halves doesn't seem to work.

I doubt either are highly paid as thrown around on here… They might be on more than a few at the Tigers, but Halves tend to get more regardless. I think if you combined both their salaries, they could be the lowest paid Halves Pairing in the NRL?

Either way, by 2018 I reckon one will be on more than the other providing a perfect combination long term, but they will no longer be equals as they appear to be now.

The quicker the dogs get rid of that mutt Reynolds, the quicker they will then become a team again.

Souths and Dogs can swap their respective Reynolds and then the besties Robbie and Josh can play together

Josh Reynolds to 9, they will probably end up with Jeff Robson if they don't do something or they could do worse than Sam Williams.

I'd take Hastings over Williams, Robson or Josh Reynolds. His biggest problem appears to be that he's a complete knob, but that's a problem he shares with Josh Reynolds.

If Brooks and Moses aren't on much coin I'd dearly love to know who _is_ filling the Tigers' cap. Farah, of course, and presumably Woods is making a reasonable amount nowadays - but outside of the Knights we must surely have the lowest number of top-dollar players. I'd been assuming the halves were on big(ish) money already, because I'm buggered if I can see where else we're spending it…

With the way Grant Mayer was handing out options and terms etc, add 100k to every player in our Top 25 and you might get closer to the cap.

Lawrence was on big dollars for the last few years. The restructuring of his contract during last season will bring his cost to a far more realistic level.

I would take graham and one of the Morris boys and Eastwood.

There is no real scope for a 'trade' in NRL terms given the CBA, but even if there were:
1) there is zero chance the Dogs would trade one of those names for Brooks, let alone more than one.
2) such a trade would put us well over the salary cap

Not if the Bulldogs take the hit on the contract like we are doing with Farah. But I agree, highly unlikely but I have seen stranger things happen when coaches are under pressure.
