Hideous jersey. Would be too embarrassed to even be cremated wearing that.
Should be a huge seller, will be in the $5 bin at sports stores by mid-season '23.

I live in Brizzy and have been supporting the tigers & magpies since mid sixties so when we had to merge I loved it, but one thing that's erked me was the lack if effort to keep our strip traditional, if we kept the big 'V' and big tigers head in black and gold with white thrown in and kept it the same forever then kids growing up following the weststigers would identify themselves with the strip. The Dolphins had a chance to target Redcliffe and an awesome strip but a huge fail for me. Bennett holding up the new Dolphins jersey with KINGS on the front looked like a basketball shirt. I would not connect with that rubbish.
There is enough merchandise to sell without changing playing strips every year too.... Just change the sponsors name in the back shoulders and sleeves. Long live traditions and chivalry!

If i lived in the area and was considering switching allegiance to a new team such as the Dolphins I'd find it tough given that the name holds no regional connection. Surely Moreton Bay Dolphins makes much more sense? Moreton Bay is a huge area that would draw so many fans in if there was a naming connection.

But Redcliffe is still part of Brisbane ......many will be Brisbane fans or if they can't stand the Broncos like a fair few of the ex BRL fans Titans or Cows .....

When Redcliffe goes under ......and they will .....Mr Vlandy's and Abdo will have a lot to answer for

Will they ? I gotta say none of those names exactly scream “exciting new franchise” . They straight up should be called the Brisbane Dolphins . Or north Brisbane , or even SEQ , and have some link to the crushers .
Moreton Bay anything seems like a fad to me .
Isn’t North Lakes akin to what’s going on in Narellan ? It’s not like there’s not a huge region to tap into . I don’t think Moreton Bay is the answer . I understand why they just went with Dolphins .

They could call themselves whatever they want ......they will fail .....

The NRL would have been far better off surrounding Brisbane with sides from Ipswich , Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast ...breaking that Brisbane link and letting the areas attract their own local fans

Fans that are still linked to the old BRL clubs are probably still supporting their post Broncos sides or Titans /Cowboys fans

Most people who were still linked to the BRL clubs post Broncos were or are so appalled by the way the Broncos treated them they hate the Broncos .....2 clubs that were linked as feeder clubs to the Broncos (Wests and Toowoomba ) no longer exist as Qld cup clubs

That’s a fair point . The reality is though , that all 3 bids were tied to existing QRL clubs . It was the only way any of them could secure enough support and funding . I thought Redcliffe were getting 5k plus to thier games even as a feeder team .
It’s really about how well they can engage the northern suburbs , and get people to look past existing links . There’s also a lot of expats from other regions , looking for a local team to raise thier kids on not called the broncos . I think a few on here ditched the tigers for them recently.
The Brisbane bombers entry ceo at the time , made a point about the fact the team had to be in central Brisbane as a viable alternate to the broncos , and any regional based team would just alienate the rest of Brisbane . It seems he may have had a point .
What the broncos did to the crushers is garbage . Really this all should have happened 25 years ago .

But you are asking Brisbane fans to support another Brisbane club ........

If you had chosen Ipswich or Toowoomba or even the Sunshine Coast they can back their own local side instead of Brisbane ...thats a big difference

Wouldn’t Ipswich double the crowd counting both heads…?

True ...but unlike our Southern counterparts ..we don't have an appendage hanging from our sole head that we refuse to remove ......

Are you saying the only reason you don't have one is you had it removed?

It really is a mid 90s thing to do getting rid of geographical reference in names.

Kind of but there's more 'not Brisbane'.

'Sunshine Coast' probably would've been better, but then who would've funded the bid?

As to the potential supporter base, it'll be those frustrated enough to jump aboard so they can actually support a well run/successful club.

But you are asking Brisbane fans to support another Brisbane club ........

Plenty of us in/around Brissie hate the Broncos.

Moreton Bay is a massive area, not a fan of them simply being 'The Dolphins'.

But it is still part of Brisbane

Kind of but there's more 'not Brisbane'.

'Sunshine Coast' probably would've been better, but then who would've funded the bid?

As to the potential supporter base, it'll be those frustrated enough to jump aboard so they can actually support a well run/successful club.

Its not an attractive proposition ...I know we have a few living in the Redcliffe region ...but no amount of money could get me interested in living at Redcliffe ...travelling there to spend the night to support them

I probably wouldn't be interested in travelling to watch them play at Redcliffe as an away game ...least the GC or Townsville is mildly interesting .....

Most of their games will be at Lang Park... Moreton Daily Stadium is pretty small, capacity claimed @11,500.

But that was the deal all the potential clubs offerred ....anyway back on point ...because on the three claims the NRL made was they had their own stadium lol .....

Getting from Redcliffe to Suncorp is a fair hike ......and you can't park within cooee of Suncorp Stadium

Even by train ...and there is no way in the world you'd get 5000 punters car parking at Redcliffe or the surrounding train car parks .....

This is why Redcliffe was a disastrous choice ......watch the crappy crowds at Suncorp .....

Another reason why Ipswich was a better choice ......

how come there's no uproar about their very plain team logo?

They don't have any fans to be upset?

It really is a mid 90s thing to do getting rid of geographical reference in names.

Like Sydney Tigers, Sydney Roosters, Sydney Bulldogs.
Trying to sever them from their geographical areas. It lasted all of a year if I remember correctly.

I'm telling you, one day soon it'll be the Amazons vs the VBs, with other clubs having names like the Nanos, Menulog and Woolworths

North Brisbane Dolphins is the no-brainer.

Redcliffe getting the nod as the expansion team, even though it's now a moot point, was also a no-brainer. They're going to go well as a club.

Personal opinion. (Which won’t go down well here, because of the merger) is that you are better off being named as a team that doesn’t identify an area just the mascot. Similar to the sharks, slowly dropping Cronulla from its advertising. They know they will always have the local support but the Cronulla stops people outside the catchment supporting them. If I was Redcliffe I’d call myself the dolphins, train out of Redcliffe play out of Suncorp and have 1 game played in Sunshine Coast and another one in Hervey Bay. They would get support from everyone north of brissie to to north QLD as well as every coastal town that doesn’t have an MRL team.

Yes, but the Sharks don't want to associate to an area because they are not sure where the NRL will be forcing them to relocate to.

I agree Bob. These clubs are supported in places far outside their traditional “areas”. I live in FNQ and there are as many Souths, Dragons and Tigers supporters here as there are Cows.
