Global warming, the disabled and women are just a few of things that Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon has very little regard for. So I don't care if you are far right or far left or somewhere in the middle these are issues that have to be supported

The target is to realise a phasedown by the tune of 90% of hydroflurocarbons which have significant Global Warming Potential by 2036\. Synthetic refrigerants have signifcant breakdown time when released into the atmosphere which contributes to the greenhouse effect.
1 kilogram of R404A released into the atmosphere is equivalent to 3,940kg of CO2 (The average Australian vehicle emits 0.19g/km, travelling 20,000km a year thats 4,750kg of CO2 emissions.) There's currently some 800,000 kgs of R404A in the marketplace. It accounts for 20% of refrigerant market volume, but represents 45% of the GWP. That's 3.152 billion kilograms of potential CO2 emissions, or the annual emissions of 663,500 vehicles.
In doing this, the reduction in greenhouse emissions caused by refrigerant leaks and the like will realise a conservative reduction of 0.5°C in average global temperature. To give you an idea on how significant that is, the average global temperature has risen by some 0.8°C since 1880, coinciding with the industrial revolution.
Changes like this should be embraced in more than just the refrigeration and air conditioning industry to make sure we don't guarantee an early onset of the next major weather shift and leave it to the planet to its natural devices.
And before anyone wants to jump in and say that it's just hippie scaremongering, the conference was put on by one of the largest synthetic refrigerant producers in the world. They are actively saying that their products are causing significant harm to the planet and that changes need to be made in terms of R&D of new alternatives (which they've already taken steps on.)
