I'm with Jerry the Magpie on this one.

People are bashing Mayer based on hearsay and rumour articles in the newspaper.

He has done a lot of good for the club in this short stint thus far, and the positives outweigh the negatives on his scorecard.

Unless someone more qualified puts their hand up, I'm happy for Grant to stay on board.

Jerry the Magpie. In all seriousness Abraham we need to be strong at the moment and support Mayer as he puts into place a better structure as he eliminates the crap that has dogged this JV for too long.

I'm not a Mayer fan and my preference is for him to move on if his contract has expired.

Having said that, I am willing to wait and see how he goes with the new board. Under the old board it was always a recipe for disaster from the start …..... and thats exactly how it turned out despite so many on here giving it to me 12 months ago.

If parish gets the coaches job then and only then will I sign your petition

Seriously, Jerry, are you being paid to do his PR?

I get the feeling Mayers days are numbered. The board will want to distant themself from the past two months drama. Potters exit was step one and I get the feeling now that Mayer has got rid of him,the board will give Hollywood the flick.

Also if one of the so called reasons for sacking Potter was his relationship with Farah, you would imagine Mayer is next in line as they also had a frosty relationship.

Like others sit tight and see what happens over the next month, their are a lot more twists and turns to come

No Ck , Jerry's actually Mayer under another name.

Mayer may very well be a tool, some of his actions do come across as such, but he may be trying to put a broom through the place and improve the accountability which our club has lacked. Obviously a lot of hard decisions have to be made within the club if we're ever going to be a force to be reckoned with.

I'm not saying Mayer is the right bloke to do it, but I think he realises it has to be done, and he's going about it his way. Could it be done better? Maybe, but I'm not in his shoes and it's always easy to throw stones at glass houses.

The way I see it , the new structure with a football General Manager will put some distance between the team and Mayer as CEO. This is a good thing.

Mayer can concentrate on the 'business' (marketing, admin, planning, finances etc) and the coach will answer to the specialist footy Gen Mgr.

Rather than Mayer directly recruiting players and telling the coach what to do, the coach and Gen Mgr will devise the roster- it's Mayer's job to tell them if it's possible, then do the deal.

I though the club had a no d**k h**d policy, why is Mayer still there?

His actions, or inaction, over the last couple of months are not what one would expect from a leader.

Probably won't renew my membership until he is gone.

Exactly, Russell. It's all about defined roles and people sticking to them. If the new board does nothing else but ensure that this takes place, then they will have made a giant step forward. Mayer's performance from 2015 onwards will be noted and reviewed by the board based on him achieving KPIs as defined by the board. The new GM will have his performance reviewed by Mayer, the new coach will have his performance reviewed by the new GM, and the players will have their performances reviewed by the coach! See, it's easy! And everyone will live happily ever after.

Mick Potter was asked how he felt in an interview regarding his contract not being renewed he said he is letting the dust settle,we should do the same regarding Mayer,I think with this new board and the appointment of a football GM we will hear a lot more coming out of the inner sanctum of the front office.I do think that the key to the new board is that they want stability in this JV and they have to start somewhere, wether we agree or don't agree with some decisions let the next couple of months take its course and see what direction we are going in,maybe some of us will be disappointed and some of us will be pleased, however lets wait and see what decisions are made first…  :sign:
