Don't know what you've got till its gone!!!

I know he was very well appreciated by all and although I'm new to the whole forum thing I'm sure everyone else here would have had the same opinion as myself, but what would you give to have Gareth Ellis signed up for the next 3 years!!! On top of our front row which when fully fit is quality imagine having the big pom protecting our young halves. Oh to dream!!!!

Has Ellis played a full game since going back to England ??

He was a machine for us , but I think his body unfortunately is calling time on his career

Very sad way to see him go out in my opinion

Was thinking the same today actually!

When he was at his prime he was easily one of the better 2nd rowers of the comp.

He's been out all year , has only played half a game. He's name is behind my Tigers Jersey … god I miss the POM :bawling

We were privileged to have him at his peak. He would have still been good value last year If not for injury, but the body can only take so much and Father Time has the better of him now.

I would go even further to say that he was the best for a year, and it would be hard to argue otherwise.

Eorl Crabtree would be a huge signing from over in the ESL, though he would be hard to get. Did Potter coach him by any chance?

Nothing lasts forever
Of that I'm sure
Now you've made an offer
I'll take some more

Ellis was a fantastic player, one of our best ever signings (if not the best) but he left at the right time. His body is crocked. He would have been on the sidelines all season had we kept him.

No way he could have lasted 3 more years.
I thought he was great in 2010, but 2011 was pretty average to be honest.

We got 3 great years out of Ellis:
2009 - 22 games
2010 - 24 games
2011 - 18 games

He was down on form and mostly injured in 2012 and only played 11 games for us.

Super league website says he has played 9 games so far this season out of a possible 23.

I would love if we can find another backrower as good as him in his prime.

He was great in his first two years, but missed lots of games last year. I'll never forget that no-look back-hand flick to Benji, which sparked a remarkable comeback from 22-4 down against The Warriors.

I may be biased because he was my favourite player, but I honesty rated him as the best back rower for a few seasons I have seen play in many years. Up there with the greats, and definitely in the top 5 English imports.

He ticked all the boxes. Strong in attack with exceptional line running and an absolute monster in defence. Not to mention a complete gentleman off the field and to the young kids. I would put him down as probably one of the first Wests Tigers "legends" to leave the club and even though injuries where beginning to get to him, I still remember being absolutely shattered when I found out he was going back to England.

has left a big hole. To think we lost him and Dwyer in the same season more or less…that's our entire backrow and replaced them with pettybourne and thompson. Like replacing a Mazeratti with a victa lawnmower (no disrespect to former magpies).

Great running, great leader and had the intimidation factor as well.

Unbelievable loss

What a wonderful player Gareth Ellis was for us ….heart, mind and soul player.
Just as well he left when he did .... Otherwise he too would have copped the wrath of the forum.
