Drug & Match Fixing Scandal in Sport

Anyone know what Dank's consultancy involved with us? Lots of articles mention he did some consulting with us, but what?

This drug story is looking like it's gonna be big, hopefully our guys are clean and we negotiate the fallout from this scandal well.

Apparently the NRLC has just commissioned Deloitte to audit Manly's High Performance Unit. Of course, it could just be due diligence, however the NRL have known about this investigation and have been cooperating with the Crime Commission, so who knows.

I would feel much better knowing that Dank had never had any involvement with Wests Tigers, though. It looks like we'll just have to weather the storm and hope he did nothing dodgy in that time.

It's worth noting that the big issue is not so much doping as match fixing, which appears to be pointed at cricket, soccer and tennis.

Interesting times ahead.
 
Yea doping must be eradicated because it is in the interests of the athletes personal health (doping was first cracked down on in professional cycling after a number of riders died or were hospitalised from drug use).

But match fixing destroys the entire credibility of the sport for the fan (and other stakeholders) and makes it pointless.

This is why it is crucial we never let match fixing into our game.

pretty sure it's going to be far beyond just this one guy

I wouldn't think any club would come through completely unscathed

Match fixing: let's bring Shayne Hayne down for that Roosters semi we lost!
 
Read the article yesterday on Essendon, as far as I can see Dank did not break any laws just pushed the limit to the max. I just cant believe players would consent to taking needles and supplements without being very concerned to their long term health.

IAM sure the AFL and NRL will both have mini royal commissions put in place new guide lines and hope the thing gets blown away once the football starts .The funny thing its been common knowledge the Dank thing for a long time and their were even rumors doing the traps last year about a elite player from a club that Danks had some involvement being on the juice, so why all the big news know. Their was plenty of press about the calve blood thing at the time. I suppose it will all depend how far they want to dig as to how much damage the NRL and AFL will get, like with most things their will be cover ups and scapegoats

i think its safe to say that Wests Tigers are clean as the way we played last year no ones onfield performance was enhanced. You all saw it.

With regards to cheating the NRL recently hit the jackpot with Melbourne and with Canterbury even earlier. There was lot of talk a few years ago about a certain club and their magic potion. Who knows what this investigation will throw up?
 
I'd like to know when Dank consulted with Tigers and just how much involvement/contact he had with the players.

Time for the club to get on top of this.
 
Only care about the following:

1\. No player has had any long term health issues from his involvement (if any)
2\. He had nothing to do with Wests Tigers in 2005

In relation to earlier reports that Stephen Dank has previously worked with or consulted to the Wests Tigers, the club confirms that this is simply untrue. Stephen Dank has never work in any capacity for the Wests Tigers.

Typical of Massoud to get his "facts" wrong when it comes to the Tigers again. I still hope the club has nothing to do with the telegraph this season.
 
Hmmm…that 30 point spurt by Parra to get to 31-30 last year was always suss....the findings are not just about doping and illegal drugs but match (or result) fixing. I have absolutely no evidence but, really, some of the capitulations and shock results of WT over the last year or two are very, very, very hard to explain. And probably not just WT, but I don't pay that much attention to other clubs and results. I await the response of the moderators on here, but if it's OK for Alan Jones and Tony Abbott to put forward half-baked theories and unsubstantiated comments, why is it not OK for me??
