DWZ signs with Bulldogs after bitter Panthers exit

The more I think about this the more I go 'we stuffed up'.
Why was this so public? If you are recruiting for a filled role it should be on the quiet.... Was this us and incompetence?
Or was this Penrith getting revenge on us by leaking negotiations against us?

Either way our team was torn apart with contract murmurous. We lost 28-0 against an origin tired Canberra. Yes, going for DWZ was a decision with merit, but not when it tanks a good season like this. Now player moral is crap.

We gotta stop blaming Penrith. They didn't want Packer but still released DWZ. He read there to he signed.

I wanna know how this was an act of revenge by Penrith. Revenge for what?

I dunno, I couldn't figure out the conspiracy theories last Dec and still can't.

Let’s not get too dramatic.

I’m quiet happy we missed out. To me this would have been a repeat of the Mbye situation. We sign him because he is the best available at the time but he is honestly only marginally better than what we have. We’re talking about a guy who have never really locked down a position at Penrith, he’s a decent player but not a star.

I’m sure there will be better players at a lower price we can grab and there will definitely be higher quality at maybe slightly higher price pop up. We are better off keeping our power dry till there are some real class players that will make a big impact on our team.

We have already been bitten signing Reynolds, Mats, Packer etc only for better players to become available and we’ve already spent our cash.

Drinkwater and more than likely Valentines Holmes will be available shortly

Far better options than DWZ easily

Yep and the cowboys are still looking for a fullback.

Cowboys are specials for snaring Drinkwater - you heard it here first.

I think it's because Penrith reneged on the player swap and this stopped us from getting DWZ. Sources confirmed that they originally said they would take Packer, but changed their mind last minute, thereby tying our hands and allowing the Bulldogs to swoop. I think you'll find this is the reason people are ticked off with Penrith.

Oh okay

Just wondering, for general intrest

@GNR4LIFE exactly all the blame should be directed at the shoddy board the CEO or lack of and the coach that seems content to tear the heart out of an average team for the rest of the season ... once Ms Go left it is just amateur hr just like it has been since exception.. lay the BLAME where it should be .

@Spud_Murphy don’t worry, with Pascoe back at the helm expect many wonderful quality signings very soon. Probably not as exciting as the re-signing of Chee-Kam but it will be up there.

DWZ will enjoy the dogs, playing fullback he should be pretty busy, lots of traffic coming through the front line today

@Snake not on the coach snake, please, I'm begging you to give maguire ONE chance to shape a somewhat competent roster by this time end of the year! If he can't even appease me then i'll agree!!

Worth every cent Geo

Good to see the cap is well and truly under control at Canterbury ....should knock that smug look off Graeme Hughes mug

i would love to know how the dogs have made two signings this week, yet stated it that there salary cap for the next two years was stuffed. seems every one else can get stuff down except us.

Hang on a sec. He’s inherited a team that came 9th last year and there’s been minimal changes to it. If he’s such a great coach, I would have thought he’d be able to improve the team organically. Or is he not as good as Ivan?
