DWZ signs with Bulldogs after bitter Panthers exit

Let’s not get too dramatic.

I’m quiet happy we missed out. To me this would have been a repeat of the Mbye situation. We sign him because he is the best available at the time but he is honestly only marginally better than what we have. We’re talking about a guy who have never really locked down a position at Penrith, he’s a decent player but not a star.

I’m sure there will be better players at a lower price we can grab and there will definitely be higher quality at maybe slightly higher price pop up. We are better off keeping our power dry till there are some real class players that will make a big impact on our team.

We have already been bitten signing Reynolds, Mats, Packer etc only for better players to become available and we’ve already spent our cash.

Canterbury have snared a major prize after luring Dallin Watene-Zelezniak to the club immediately.

The Bulldogs have beaten the Wests Tigers and Cowboys for the Kiwi captain’s services.

The Tigers were desperate to sign Watene-Zelezniak, who has been released from Penrith, however they couldn’t move a player on to make room in the salary cap for his services.

Pom said we didn't need to move anyone on to fit him in, something else must of happened

He probably wanted more dollars than we were prepared to give him and the dogs are desperate so they gave it

More like he watched us 'play' on Friday night and thought....nup not going there!

Dean Pay is under massive pressure to keep his job so i can see how he would throw more money to get DWZ.Madge has a secure position for at least 2-3 years and hopefully wont be paying massive overs

Drinkwater and more than likely Valentines Holmes will be available shortly

Far better options than DWZ easily

@happy_tiger To get Holmes we'd have to offer him close to $1m a year, well overs, which I think we may have to bit the bullet and accept.

I'd say go for it. I don't see how else to make our club attractive to players.

If Maguire wanted him thats a major blow. Our inability to recruit against other clubs continues to be our biggest problem.

I don’t think that it was our inability to recruit DWZ, it was Penrith’s not wanting any of Ivan’s rubbish that he left here.

Yeah, but he also stated that the move involved a swap with a previously wanted Packer.

I’m glad we didn’t get him .. no more midgets ( sooky ones at that ).

@hobbo1 I think Holmes is going to make it in the NFL, who cares about DWZ just another above average player with injury concerns ... the issue is he wants no part of our club that is the issue !when someone of his stature wants nothing to do with the club there are real problems.

Madge already stated that Mbye ain’t going anywhere and is our fullback
DWZ was pissing and moaning he wanted the fullback roll

No one knows what the ins and outs during negotiations (if any)

As for a player of his stature that’s laughable !
Maybe he didn’t want to play out of bankwest !?
Who knows / who cares ...

Don't need another sook in the team. We move to the next target.

He’ll have a better chance of offloading his dodgy watches at Belmore ?

Not worried about missing out, but seriously, a side with well documented cap issues, paying players to play at other clubs and they had spare cap space for a player on spine money.

My interest in the NRL just decreases more and more each month and with 3 weeks left before June 30 no doubt I will be amazed at who the usual suspects can still fit into their cap.
